I'm struggling to see how this is a good hire.  I mean, I guess they might be looking for stability and someone to make them respectable.  And he might do that.  But he really didn't do all that much in Minnesota.

I think he did more at Minnesota than people give him credit. Just because they're in the big ten doesn't mean theyre a good program. Minnesota has been to 9 NCAA tournaments and Tubby got them to 3 of them in his 6yrs there. Seems like he was finally building them to a respectable program.

Exactly. I think that was the last of the open coaching positions that concerned me about buzz taking. Buzz for life!

He had there first ncaa tourney win that counts in over 20 years at Minnesota.

Nope, he'll be the Associate Head Coach there for 3 years until Tubby is fired.  It's all in Buzz's plans...

This.
Other than when they were cheating under Clem Haskins, Minnesota has a long and storied history as a bad basketball program.
Between 1900 and 1982, they made exactly two postseason appearances (one NIT, one NCAA).
Since 2000, they've made four NCAA appearances. Three of them were under Tubby.

He failed at Minnesota - on the court, off the court and in the courts - and has not been hired at Texas Tech.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.
