At least they have a valid reason this time. Last thing another country wants is a bunch of unvaccinated Americans swarming everywhere.

If they want a semblance of normalcy (and better revenues), the Olympics would be an ideal setting to try vaccine passports.

Ironic considering what happens to most stadiums after the Olympics anyways

Japan really didn't have to build many.  And those that needed to be constructed were finished months before the 2020 games were expected to begin.  The biggest cost was their "national stadium" which was original back to the 1964 games.  It will be used by their national soccer and rugby teams when the Olympics are done.

If I recall correctly, that was part of the plan: to try to have most future Olympic Games in places where they already had most of the infrastructure in place. Hence, LA.
