Can we have an Answer Key thread to go along with these famous alumni threads? I don't have a clue who most of these people are.
-
SoCalWarrior's post: First Row(L-R): John Tesh, John Edwards, Sidney Lowe, Tom Gugliotta. Second Row(L-R) Bill Cowher, Phillip Rivers. Third Row(L-R): Spud Webb, Zach Galifianakis
NYWarrior's Post top to bottom: Lorenzo Charles, Henry Shelton, Chris Washburn.
-
Thank you for the answer key - this was helpful. I'm usually in the same boat in trying to identify some of the alumni!

Who is Zach Galiafanakis?

That is really stretching the definition of "famous."

That is really stretching the definition of "famous."
As one of today's premiere young comedians, it really isn't.
-
he is hilarious.... go watch some of his routines... they play his comedy central special quite often... friday nights.
plus he has been in more than a few movies.
-
I keep looking at that photo of Tesh and am completely uncertain whether or not his face was photoshopped with that hair. I mean, it's totally conceivable he had hair like that before he married Connie Selleca.

Pre-"Hangover," no. Now, yes.

You do realize that you are asking that question of a person who no longer is active here who posted it a year ago.

NC State does seem to crank out the comedians

I don't know if this photo image copied (help please), but the greatest NC State alumni.
David Thompson
It worked....

Don't forget Terry Gannon, broadcaster for ESPN and ABC, former Wolfpack guard on the 1983 Jimmy V championship team and former Joliet Catholic High School star.....(sorry, can't figure out how to paste a picture of him)

Roman Ildonzo Gabriel, Jr. (born August 5, 1940 in Wilmington, North Carolina) is a former American football player. The son of a Filipino immigrant, he was the first Asian-American to start as an NFL quarterback and is considered by many to have been one of the best players at that position during the late 1960s and early 70s. At 6'4" and 235 pounds, he is considered the first truly big quarterback of the modern era.
Word. :)

So is this why Zach Galiafanakis calls himself a one-man Wolfpack in the Hangover?

A possibility, but he gains a pack... and then snags baby Carlos!

Thank you. I noticed this glaring omission yesterday, and was just coming here to correct it. You saved me the trouble.
-
Robert Gibbs---priceless! I would not want to claim him as one of my notable alumni.
-
Pre-"Hangover," no. Now, yes.
I thought he could be considered mainstream since the movie "Out Cold"
They replay that one on Comedy Central a lot too
-
Just for the record...while Zach Galifianakis may have attended NC State, his Wikipedia page says that he did not graduate from there. So he's technically not an alumnus.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zach_Galifianakis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zach_Galifianakis)
That's also assuming the Wikipedia page is accurate...

I'm sure this has been covered a million times, but an alumnus need not have graduated from a college/university, just attended.
We can consider Scott Walker a Marquette alum.

Chris Farley did actually graduate from MU

Maybe. But, to quote Wikipedia, "While initially more of an "underground" and lesser-known comedian, he garnered considerable mainstream attention with his breakthrough role in the successful 2009 comedy The Hangover, as his character of Alan."
"Wikipedia is the best thing ever. Anyone in the world can write anything they want about any subject, so you know you are getting the best possible information."

Tallied 8 points, 7 rebounds against MU in the 1974 Championship game. Probably redeemed himself in MU fans eyes by contributing to the Cubs making the playoffs in 1984

There must be some porn stars since 2009.
We do need to get revenge from the Wolfpack for beating Al in Final 4 in 1974.
