It's one way to avoid the sweater vests.:

Recent graduates of Marquette University now have the opportunity to claim their own sections at the BMO Harris Bradley Center for men’s basketball games with the creation of the Coors Light Recent Graduate Ticket Package, just in time for the 2015-16 season.

The “Coors Light Corner” in sections 427 and 428 provides the opportunity for alumni who have exhausted their eligibility in the last five years the opportunity to “graduate” from the student section and continue to cheer on the Golden Eagles as a group. Anyone who has earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral or Professional degree from Marquette University since May 2011 is eligible for this program.

Season tickets for the “Coors Light Corner” will cost just $150 per ticket, well below the regular cost of $275 for this section. The discounted price includes $100 to cover the cost of the ticket to all 20 games this year and $50 will be a donation (tax deductible) to the Blue & Gold Fund, which assists in scholarship support for all of the athletic programs at Marquette.

Also included for each ticket in this section:

One Coors Light Recent Grad Section t-shirt
One piece of glassware co-branded by Marquette Basketball and Coors Light
One voucher per game for a free Coors Light to be redeemed only at the BMO Harris Bradley Center concession stand located by Sections 427 and 428
Entry for a drawing to participate in the Marquette Basketball Fantasy Camp
A limit of two tickets per graduate may be requested for this section. Recent Marquette graduates interested in purchasing season tickets in “Coors Light Corner” should call the Marquette Ticket Office at 414-288-GOMU (4668).

It pains me that they announced this long after the reseating process. I would've gladly sat in 427 each game with a free beer in hand. Oh well...

Cost of ticket per game:  $5
Cost of BC beer:  $8

So MU paying you $3 per game to go watch some cupcakes.

But how are these millennials ever gonna learn they're not special or different if we keep treating them as such?

That's what I was thinking.  It's crappy coors light, but a pretty good deal.

But - given the marketing  “Coors Light Corner”, I'd guess Marquette gets to keep the $5 and Coors is ponying up the free beer in an effort to get young adults to buy it as their go-to cheap beer.

Yeah what the F.  And I barely made the cut off from grad school.  Guess I'll enjoy my more expensive no free beer exact same seats on another corner.

Probably by kicking them out of the section after 5 years.

Exactly.  Hey kids, get your butts down there.  T-Shirt and beer?  That's as good as life gets.

Great work Marquette.  Very smart way to get some money out of MillerCoors - a group not shy to spend but it is tough with colleges.  This might be the most clever thing MU has done in a long, long time.  I almost think they priced it too low.

Same price as student tickets, plus a $50 donation to Blue & Gold.  It's almost more brilliant for the fundraising aspect than the discounted ticket aspect.

I just switched from my normal season tickets to this deal. So if you already bought tickets, it is a five minute phone call to switch.

Do honorary degrees count?

Only if it hasn't been revoked.  The ticket office has a list.

If I'm a traditional recent grad how will Marquette guarantee I don't end up sitting next to a #squrimy "grad" like Jimmy, Jae or Darius?

Is Jae eligible for this section? He didn't graduate after all.

And I doubt Jimmy is going to be sitting in the cheap seats.  Can't promise anything about DJO, though

I'm a 2010 grad which makes this some bullsh!t.

Looks like I'll have to go through my brother who graduated in 2014 to get tickets

There are people who always have to find something negative in everything.

I believe he's saying maybe this deal only came out because ticket sales are slumping.  He's not saying it's "maybe" a good deal.

So do I get refunded for the season tickets I already bought if I want to switch?

I believe you have to call the ticket office but that they will make the change for you and I'm confident that if you move to the designated section the price differential will be refunded.

Ok, that adds up more. That being said, do we really know season-ticket sales are slumping, right now? (Other than folks guessing)

I moved my seats from 205 to 202.  When MU put... I think it was the 5 game packages?  on sale, I looked at the Ticketmaster seat selection screen.  The entirety of the row in 205 that I was in was still available.  All of it.  After all the season ticket holders had picked their seats.

That's all fine, but we still don't have hardcore data numbers overall that say sales are way down, like some have said. I'm with you! I bet numbers are down.

MU reported that 40% of the seats in those two sections have been sold in over a week.
