For those harping on wojo because he didn't do anything about  stopping ponds, did you have the same mindset about Cooley vs Markus?

I don't know, maybe just starting thread for argumentative purposes in light of some saying that. Really don't care what Cooley thinks or believes, he said same about Markus that night....unstopable.

But, Markus scoring 52 when MU just beat Providence in OT, without their leading scorer and rebounder, was just a miracle night.
Then again, this year some players have had their own miracle nights against MU, here's just some examples:

Brunson with 31 and 27
Martin with 37 (career high)
Wideman with 23 (career high)
Ponds with 44 (career high)

Other than Sacar - who wasn't nearly enough today - MU simply doesn't have anyone capable of stopping Ponds when he is hitting outside shots.

Face it - other than the frosh, we have two guys who are capable of playing reasonably good defense on a high D1 level.  Sacar generally can play pretty well (but isn't elite), and Heldt can be solid against traditional post players.

I don't think Wojo could have done much more today, but he clearly needs to work on recruiting and developing defenders.
