When will we know?
« on: June 16, 2007, 09:12:39 AM »
I don't know how many times I'll be able to check the site to hear about whether or not DJ is going to stay in the draft or not.  I assume he'll make his decision this weekend but who knows he may wait until 4:59 pm monday to make the call.

From Gery Awful:

JAMES TAKING IT TO THE LIMIT: Marquette guard Dominic James, who still has two years of eligibility left at Marquette University, said he hasn’t decided whether to return to college or stay in the NBA draft.

James, like all early-entry candidates, has until the 18th – or this Monday – to make his decision.

“I’m still talking to people,’’ James said in a telephone interview Friday from his home in Richmond, Ind. “I’m going to take this up to the end.’’

One can’t fault James for waiting. One Western Conference player personnel director told me his team won’t draft James; however, another Western Conference player personnel director and an Eastern Conference general manager said they were confident James would be selected if he opted to stay in the draft.

Gery's hoping desperately DJ goes. That way he can rip TC next year for not being able to hold on to his players.

EXACTLY.....Woeful is setting this up perfectly for himself.

If DJ leaves, he will rip Crean for running him out.  If DJ stays, he will rip Crean for not helping DJ enough, or for not coaching him properly last season.

I would love to be a journalist for a cheesehead rag like the Racine Times so I can write wonders like Awful does.

Don't really care what Woeful has to say.  But, for DJ to listen to comments that a Western Conference guy is confident that DJ would be drafted if he stays in certainly cannot be a very compelling argument for DJ.  Now, if that NBA rep said that his team would pick DJ if DJ was available when his team was picking in the second round, that might be a different story.  In the end, there are no guarantees in this situation.  I suspect DJ is just waiting and hoping for that "guarantee"...??  I think he'll be back and should be back; but, I've been surprised by many things.  Its DJ's choice.  Que sera sera.......

Katz's take:

"Dominic James, So., G, Marquette: James worked out in Orlando but didn't impress. He worked out for Houston in Orlando and then for New York/New Jersey. He wasn't getting any kind of guarantee that he would be selected. Still, he was holding out this week before making a decision.

It's quite simple for him: He can withdraw from the draft, or he can return to Marquette for a chance to win the Big East, go far in the NCAAs and at least raise his profile so he could be a second-round lock in 2008."

Is DJ waiting for a call thats not forthcoming?  Only wish the best for DJ.  Hopefully, he makes a wise and informed decision.  Obviously, he knows more about the situation than we posters.
