Relief
« on: March 24, 2024, 02:00:42 PM »
We're just diehard fans that really have no impact on the end result (aside from creating an amazing home court advantage).

But man do I feel like such a weight has been lifted.  11 years for Marquette.  Longer for Shaka.

Anyone else feel the same?

100%.  Relief is the exact same word me and my buddies used after this one.  Really feels like we are truly back now.

After last year’s early exit and living in the top 10 all year, yeah needed to get to next weekend or that would have hung heavy in the program and Shaka.

I love their chances Friday night too. One at a time.

No relief for me. I have trusted the process for three years and have watched a premier program be built. Past performances mean little to me. Two down!

If they lost today, this season would have been a disappointment.  Now, it’s all in front of them.  So happy for Shaka and this team.

Agreed, no reason MU can not beat NCS, Oso could have a field day against Burns, very slow.

Tremendous relief. I believe in our team so much but weird things happen this time of year. First time as a Marquette fan I can remember wanting this so much more for the team versus me. These guys really deserve it and I’m happy to be along for the ride

Like everyone on scoop, I am a fan of the program, but I have never wanted a team to reach their goal more than this team. They have earned all of our respect and that is pretty damn cool. I hope they have the best two weeks of their lives and get the praise they deserve.

Relief here as well.  Monkey finally off our back.  But Shaka still has some proving to do.  This team has the luxury of playing together for 3 years.  Colorado just took us to the wire and 2 of their best players Da Silva and Williams are freshman.   To truly build a power Shaka's recruiting needs to take another step up.  Better shooters, longer players.  And as we are seen as more of a power hopefully that will happen.  Combine his culture with higher recruiting level and we'll be able to reload.

Winning should never be a relief; however, with what our program and our head coach have lived through over the past ten years, a huge weight was lifted off everyone's shoulders today.

I will continue to enjoy the ride.

LOL, we are really going to trash how Shaka is building the program right now?

My Gawd, this is the worst post-game post. Yeah, it's an opinion board, but what a take. Maybe you need to be an alum to thoroughly enjoy the win. That's the only way I can make some sense of this.

The relief we as fans feel is probably something like 1/10th of what Shaka and the players feel.  To me this game posed our biggest challenge via more pressure than what we will face from here on out.  Further that was a very talented team we took out.

I feel we will see a confident, relaxed, and dialed in team in Dallas.  Huge to get last year's monkey off the back for the team and Shaka.

NC State has played well of late but their overall roster talent doesn't scare me in the way Colorado's did.  Feeling really good about the chance to get to the Elite 8 and be able to compete in a dogfight to make the Final Four.

100%

Last year, I wasn't as nervous.  We had the BE & BET titles to make the year noteworthy.

We could also look forward to bringing back the core of our team for this year.  This year, we absolutely needed to make a tournament run.

Thrilled to be Sweet 16 bound, but not done yet.  Let's go!

And just as a fan, it was a lot of anxiety today (right or wrong),

It's going to be mostly excitement and confidence going into Friday.

You don’t get real chances to win it all often and that has been the goal since the MSU loss. Trust me, the excitement and anxiety is just getting started. The stakes continue to rise and I need to rest up for next Friday!

We’ve got one of the special Marquette teams on our hands with a chance to fulfill some big aspirations.

For me though I’m just so happy to see them fight, play their game and accomplish something great along the way. They won that game—Nothing was given by the opponent.  This was the product of a lot of hard work and failure.  How awesome is it that we get more basketball with this team.

Some relief...but my expectations were set in Maui that we would be an E-8 team minimum. I know E-8 does not equal the best 8 teams in the land. It's a tournament. But in a way that would validate my expectations. So S-16 is great but thats where they're supposed to be. E-8 meets expectations and FF exceeds. When we play Houston to cut the nets, that's where my real hope kicks in.
