Wisky flops

Brad Davidson (Uw-madison player) drew 5 charges vs NC State. In all seriousness, I'm not sure any of them were charges.  Hard to beat anyone when you're playing 8 vs 5. Here's hoping Howard torches him again this year.

Happ flopped pretty bad too in the final minutes under the basket. Got nudged in the shoulder and acted like he was hit by a truck. Gave them the ball back.

I don't think I've ever despised an opposing player more than him. Everything he does just seems... cheap, overly calculated, irritating.

I can't wait to send him home with a big fat L next weekend.

ESPN put together a montage of all four. I am no expert, but two of them look like good defense by Davison. The other two including the game winner....sure looked like Davison was sliding his feet and just fell over at first sign of contact.

I do know, Newsie is right on you knowing ball.

Sitting in a pub 100 miles south of Perth, Australia and they have the game (delayed) on TV.  Frikken rodents are everywhere.

He's easily the most unlikeable player since Frank

I have no idea what UW is going to do without Happ next year.  I'm sure they will find something, but they run absolutely everything through him.

Did NC State double him last night? I think the key to beating Wisconsin is having a defender take him one on one. That's what Virginia did because he's so good at passing out of the post. Throw bodies and fouls at him. Wear him out physically and make him beat you on his own.

Was just saying that to my friend last night. Ed and Theo are strong enough to hold their own without the auto double.

I wouldn't discount Heldt either.  Matt played him well in Madison last year.

Agreed.

I joked in the off-season about Happ as a grad transfer point guard, but currently he's #11 in the country in assist rate, averaging over 5 apg. From 3, UW's 43.8% on threes translates to a 65.7 eFG% when Happ is passing out of the post to open shooters, but he's only at 55.9% shooting 2s and 50% from the line, so you're statistically better off making him beat you. He'll put up monster numbers but I think you're more likely to come out with a W.

Agreed, I think the KU game (1H) was almost the blueprint. No layups, make him earn it at the FT line (not a good FT shooter like Azubuike), Theo/Ed/Matt use all 5 fouls. But single cover him, I don't think anyone else on that team can beat us consistently without getting free from a double down

This right here is the key. I fully expect two of three of them to foul out but they need to be smart fouls. We can't have Ed throwing out frustration fouls. Extremely physical but smart defense

We swill see. Remember Happ has 3 or 4 inches on ED.....and Matt and Theo had double team help quite often last year because UW was a terrible 3 point shooting team.

This season they are hitting 43% of their 3 points shots.......Trice is hitting 60%!

No real good options......Happ is a load in the post....he turned it over a lot against us last season and had 5 last night so there is that.

Would love to get him in foul trouble.

We need to keep Happ at least 8' out from the basket. He's a lame shooter when kept outside.

Timely.

He's freaking terrible. If I'm Wojo, I talk to the refs right at the outset to watch his feet. He's rarely set when he gets those calls.

When each starter goes over to shake each refs hand during introductions they should say "watch for the flops".  15 reminders.  Of course it could backfire by pissing off the refs.  If Breeding is the ref, he would probably call 5 technicals and UW would start off with a 10 point lead before the game tips.

Not if Happ has to shoot them 😂

What happened to the start and stop on floppers? Are they caliing that a foul now? Remember coaches simply telling ballhandlers to get close then stop dead. Possibilites:
1. Defense flops and you can drive by
2. Defense flops cannot drive by but it looks awful to ref giving them less chance of getting call later
3. Defense does not bite and you pass the ball.

They must be calling the start and stop a foul now. Or the Davidson's of the world are too good and never fall for it?

Could be referees have short memories.  With articles like the one above, word will get around on Davison and he will start getting blocking calls on those, maybe even on legitimate charges.
I mean, OK, maybe he's secretly a serial killer who's pulled the wool over our eyes with his good deeds and smooth jumper - Pakuni (on Markus Howard)
