Opportunities for decent NC wins
« on: November 18, 2016, 06:31:00 PM »
Worst part about the 0-2 trip is that MU has few opportunities to get a decent NC win. Forces them to finish in the top 4 of the BE which is a tall task. Need both the UW-Madison and UGA games now otherwise it's a CIT season.

This team is going nowhere, wish I felt different but the coach doesn't know how to make in game adjustments to give his team a chance to win. Ground hog day.

No, the worst part about going 0-2 in NYC is all the chicken little posters who only come out of the woodwork when MU loses.

That's generally the case, but folks are actually pretty tame so far this year.  Either MU doesn't suck enough for them to waste their energy, or a lot of folks have become ambivalent (wouldn't be surprising).

If the teams gets blown out by Bucky, students remain ambivalent and the team starts 1-3 in the BE (a distinct possibility), that's when Wojo's seat begins to really heat up.

I think Rocky hit it on the latter point there. I wish MU was better, but have become resigned to the fact that MU basketball has become "meh". Maybe I'm just older/busier, but the program has been stuck in this cycle for awhile now, there just isn't a ton to get either excited for or bummed out about. I probably spend 90% of my time now in the Superbar instead of in here, I'd rather here people's opinions on either football or travel recommendations than anything MU bball related opinion.

well then expect to see more of them as the season moves along. Last year the excuse was we were young. What will be this years?

Still young.

And next year, when John and Eke are forced to play a ton of minutes because Heldt is lost, they'll still be young.

And so on. Always two years away.

No it doesn't.  He isn't getting fired after this year.

In one week I've gone from being pretty excited about the season to wishing it was over.

(Not really but my expectations have gone through the floor.)

Michigan wasn't particularly good, but they did get hot in the first half. Pitt wasn't particularly good, but we let them back in and never could close the door. Those two things lead me to believe we aren't particularly good right now.

We need at least one of Georgia or Wisconsin to realistically think about the Tournament.

With how strong the top half of the BE is looking, they need both.

9-3 non-conference, 10-8 in league. That'll do.

Sure, but I don't know if 10 league wins is realistic.

10-8 probably means we have to win twice in six games against Villanova, Xavier and Creighton.

It means sweeping DePaul, Providence, and St John's, then going 4-8 against Villanova, Xavier, Creighton, Butler, Seton Hall, and Georgetown with 6 of those at home.

Fresno state going 25-10 & making NCAA tourney last year had me optimistic of a potential top 100 RPI win. But they have already lost to Praire View A&M

Interesting. How'd those in game adjustments go against Vanderbilt?
