[Paint Touches] Benchmarking Marquette 2023 vs 2022
« on: December 29, 2022, 03:25:20 PM »
I'm just as guilty as anyone, so not pointing fingers, but it should be noted that this year's Marquette team is very, very different from last year's team.

To highlight it, I looked at what MU looked like on 12/29/21, and I can't emphasize enough how January completely shifted the way I remember the season.

Did you know TRank had MU as a sub-100 team on this day last year? Because I sure as heck didn't.

Yes.   MU lost to UCLA and then started 0-3 in conference before going on a great run in January.

Luke 6:45   ...A good man produces goodness from the good in his heart; an evil man produces evil out of his store of evil.   Each man speaks from his heart's abundance...

It is better to be fearless and cheerful than cheerless and fearful.

Bartorvik is more reactionary. On KP, Marquette was in the 80s ish until January. Worked its way up to 40s ish late, and got beat down back to the 50s. It was an exciting team. It gave us proof of concept under Shaka. But it was easily the worst Marquette team to make the tournament since at least the 90s.

Meanwhile this years team has a decent chance to be the best Marquette team since Buzz.
