Question for Bulls Fans
« on: May 31, 2016, 02:03:27 PM »
Am I dreaming this up or was there a player back in the Jordan era that used to put on like a top hat, sun glasses, and a bigger coat and just take the train to the United Center without anybody realizing he was a Bulls player?  For some reason a story of Steve Kerr doing this is sticking in my mind, but I can't find anything on it.  Am I just crazy, or did a Bulls player used to do this at one point?

Don't know about Kerr but I'm sure you know the Stockton story at the Olympics where he just walked off the team bus and nobody recognized him walking in the streets.

I don't remember anything like that, but the majority of Bulls players then (until recently) all lived around the north shore/surrounding suburbs.

The Berto Center was in Deerfield, a solid hour poke to the UC. Since practices, medical and training was focused out of there, players were rarely at the UC. I remember many players would load up on buses to go to the games.

I doubt this is true, there's no train access close enough to United Center. Organization had hotel rooms in downtown Chicago on game days for players so they didn't have to worry about commuting from the northern burbs to downtown. Some Cubs players have in the past taken the L to/from games.

Interesting.  I have no idea why, but for some reason I had it in my head that I remember hearing a story being talked about during the Jordan era on a broadcast of one of their Playoffs games that one of their players used to take the train to the UC and just put on some sunglasses and a hat and was never noticed.  I was like 9 when Jordan was at his prime with the Bulls, though, so I don't know why my 9 year old self made this story up in my head.
