This game was a war.

This was a really good game to watch. Close all the way and extremely physical. A great win to add to NCAA resume. However, I think this style of play hurts Big East teams when they get to NCAA. It seems to me after watching several NCAA tournament games, that the Big East comes up short in the NCAA tournament, when game it is made a finesse game by the refs. The Big east allows you to be so physical that you adapt your game to it. That does not work well when you get the NCAA refs that call fouls for you breathing on the other player.

So you're saying today was a good primer for that?  Because it was.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Marquette is definitely better when the pace is slow this year.

It was.   MU stood it's ground against a very physical team.    No cheap shots, just very physical basketball.    Loved the alternating between man and zone defense.   It confused Pitt and the announcing team, too.

God I love Buzz.

He can coach em up any way.   Fast, slow, half court, full court.

They've turned into the team I usually hate.

Their rebounding and free throw shooting (and the ability to get there) have been very impressive.  It's nice to see them developing an identity.

It seems to me that Marquette is starting to play down  to their opponent. You always felt they had control but never saw the killer instinct to pull away. Good win!

Yep.  Not the entertainment of last year's team when they could get up and down the floor, press the crap out of the other team, and score at will.  But they're still fun to watch because winning is always fun.

No doubt.  What a luxury to have a coach that can adjust gameplans to opponents and his own talent.

They may be slow, but they are ATHLETIC slow.  Not sure that makes sense...but I think I know what I mean.

How do you play down to a 10.5 favorite?

I am very pleased that Pitt doesn't practice free throws.  The outcome might have been different if they had.   ;)
