NCAA will hold hearings this week. Insiders are saying it could be major penalties handed down, enough that Boeheim might pull a Calhoun and retire.

Back 2 back Big East titles to close out the Big East as we knew it will be nice...
-
Looks like Southerland shouldn't have been playing when they beat us to go to the Final Four as well. Guess we can add a 2012 Big East Championship and 2013 Final Four to our trophy case!
-
So when are they going to vacate Duke's 2010 NC and give it to Butler?
(Lance Roberts took $100,000 to buy Jewelery)
Oh wait, this rule only applies when it is a Calipari coached team.

There are double standards everywhere. North Carolina should theoretically have every basketball win over an 18-year period wiped out. So far nothing has happened, even though hundreds of players may have taken fictional classes.

California, Montana, Indiana might want to raise an objection as well. All of them also lost in 2013 on Syracuse's run.
In 2012, Wisconsin, K-State, UNC Asheville

Lance Thomas is whom I think you mean.
Thomas and the jeweler refused to cooperate with the NCAA and the NCAA couldn't find anything tangible to hang on the program. No one would talk and the NCAA doesn't have subpoena powers. How he got the money is unknown and could not be proven.
The Marcus Camby situation was different in that he took money from two sports agents and it was proven that he had done so. Camby admitted as such, as did the agents who were upset that Camby didn't hire them. Wesley Spears, one of the agents, faced 40 years in prison on blackmail charges, but was ultimately given probation after he took a plea deal.
Fair? Probably not, but in one case the evidence was there and in the other there wasn't. There needs to be evidence.

crank up the banner machine!

It was said tongue in cheek. Just like when UMass and Memphis had to vacate their Final Fours, there would just be a 3 team Final Four. Hah.
The Big East title in 2012 would be a different story though, and would be interesting to see if they awarded that to Marquette or just didn't award a winner at all.
This is all assuming they will need to vacate wins. Big assumption to be made.

Wojo gets to raise his first BE title banner without coaching a game. Man, he is good.

Who would make the decision, the (New) Big East because we own the records or the AAC since they're the successor?

Good question. And again I haven't really read into this much at all so I don't even know if vacating wins is even an option, but if it were they specifically say Fab Melo's case is being investigated and it would've been that year.
-
Even if you take southerlands points out of the elite 8 game it's still just a tie game and he had no assists. But still I vote we replay the final four!
-
Is there a more meaningless punishment than taking away wins from a few years ago? Maybe the NCAA can take away a scholarship or two as well? ::)
A tourney ban is the only decent penalty. Otherwise, it pays to cheat.

this.

this.
And it still pays to cheat. The only ones who get punished are the kids currently at the school or ones who come in the future. Coach still makes money. Scholl still made the money. Kids who cheated don't get punished.

yep - they should allow any kid to transfer without loss of a year, eligible immediately, if the school he is at is found guilty of any violations.

But if we get a big east title and can say we shoulda been in the final four out of said wins being taken away then I'd be ok with it.

Meaningless, hollow victory.

Somehow academic issues in every other program take the semester at a minimum to resolve, but Syracuse players always return as soon as Boeheim gets around to whining about it. And it only took the better part of two years for the NCAA to notice...they're becoming efficient!

They did this at both Penn State and USC although now that I think about it, they may have done it for seniors only.

They would vacate it, or should. Every game that Syracuse played against every Big East team is impacted. Meaning someone that finished a game behind MU may have lost to Syracuse twice for example....the impacts are everywhere. That's why I mentioned Cal, Montana, IU....all could have gone to the same Final Fiur without playing Syracuse that year.

For a year at Penn State anyone could transfer regardless of eligibility and amount of eligibility left.

Already did the math months ago... wipe out Syracuse's season by forfeiting their games, and MU is the standalone regular season champion.
Vacate their season, and there's simply a gaping hole at the top of the standings. Which is basically what Syracuse is any way.
