I know we lost our coach to penn state a few years ago, and Duffy a couple hours ago, I'd guess we're just not paying enough to retain coaching talent.

Duffy was hear for 5 years.  so it's not like it's a revolving door.  I would be willing to bet it's not pay, but maybe fan support.  we've been a tournament team the past couple years and outside of the UConn game, the AL is 25% full.

Bingo.

Outside of this group that just graduated, Duffy had a hard time recruiting and retaining talent. And the basketball was borderline unwatchable.

Per a Friend ( former women’s player at MU ) … the Admin was not happy with her and the ( lack ) of achievement

MU apparently gives resources to
Women’s hoops that is at or above almost any team in BE ( other than
UCONN ) …

Her recruiting is / was lacking. No success in NCAAT

I think VT was an escape for her

MU should go hire the now former coach at TENN.

You might want to check out his overall record as a head coach before making that suggestion

you mean his first year record after having to bring in 10 new players, mostly freshmen, and the only returners being two reserves, and not being a fully funded program?

Merritt would be an excellent hire for MU.

Hire the best available. Don't bring in someone just because he (or she) is an alum.

IMO there is no chance he would be considered for this role if he weren't for his previous connections to MU.

Hows that mindset working for Villanova?

And how did it work for the post-All men's team?

Passing the torch to Raymonds made some sense.  Giving a clearly unprepared Majerus the job afterwards was a terrible decision.

Unlike Neptune, Merritt has experience working at high major programs beyond just MU (Illinois and Bucky). I'm not too concerned about one year at Gardner-Webb where he had to bring in a whole new roster.  I'm not saying Merritt is the only guy who should be considered but he would be an excellent hire, IMO, if MU went that direction. He's a guy who knows Milwaukee, MU and the issues the program faces, and the Big East.

Two terrible high major programs...

Again, not even in the discussion if he doesn't have a prior MU connection.
