Porky is too lazy to look it up but that had to be our worst 3PT %age of the season no?  Quite possibly MU's worst 3PT %age in the last decade if not ever.

12.9% from three may be the worst shooting percentage for a long time.

Our offensive gameplan is layups or 3s. They took away the layups and we missed 3s

Looked it up. Worst single game 3P% since February 14, 2021 when we went 3/25 (12%) in a 57-51 loss to Seton Hall.

4 for 31 is only acceptable in CYO BB.  Shaka needs to bring in 2 consistent 3 point players.
I thought you were dead. Willie lives rent free in Reekers mind.

Said before the game that as long as Marquette does not shoot the 5-31 from 3 as we did against Butler this year that Marquette would win. Said we will not do that again and we will beat NCState. Was wrong ugh.

Said before the game that as long as Marquette does not shoot the 5-31 from 3 as we did against Butler this year that Marquette would win. Said we will not do that again and we will beat NCState. Was wrong ugh.

I think an anomaly shooting is normally the fear of any team that isn’t a UConn with multiple big men. Even a Purdue. These type of games happen often enough, they are not unicorns for any team, and they are tough to overcome when it happens. The fact that we were able to actually have a shot at winning in the game under 5 minutes was amazing. Could have pulled out a win if we shoot our statistically norm towards the end.

The question is why and there is no great explanation, that I have:

Maybe it is pure stats. A player or two often have off nights, sometimes it will be more than a player or two on the same night. Maybe no need to look further- it is simple math and the law of basketball stats. Accept and move on.  Works in reverse also, sometimes many players on a team shoot lights out on the same night. Fans are dancing at how great the team is… but it’s an aberration.

Or, Start statistically poor, but shooting should revert to mean, but psychologically players start to think and press and tighten up and miss more and more. A virus that infects the host and spreads to the other players.

Combination of the above. I don’t know but it happens many times during a tournament to all sorts of teams, too bad it happened to us. But this is not a unicorn. It is not normal but happens often enough. Fans need to accept this as part of basketball.

My final grade is an A-   Team did really well all year, overcame injuries, but disappointing we didn’t make it a step further. But many teams are dissatisfied that they should have made it a step further. That’s how it works. That is the tournament. More often than not your team that should have could have will end up on the loosing side of the fence earlier than you expect. Unless your a UConn and those teams don’t come around that often, maybe once in a decade.

Embrace this as part of college ball. Your team, no matter what name is on the jersey will have these types of games, and will loose sooner than they should in the tournament. Unless you have a UConn type of team and that ain’t often. So fans, grow on your mindset or you’ll continue to be sad in March and April. Shaka can break through, but it won’t be easy.

Once Shead went down it was pretty obvious we blew an incredibly realistic chance at a FF

Last year we would’ve needed to beat a 15, 7, 3 and a 9. This year 15, 10, 11, 4.

Can’t dream of a better bracket back to back years

Duke was 2-for-16 from 3 yesterday until Jared McCain hit 3 meaningless treys in the final 1:08. They finished 5-for-20. Going into the game, Duke was at .380 from 3 this season.

Going into our game against NC State, we were at .360 for the season.

Going into the ACC tournament, NC State's opponents made .351 of their 3s; during their 9-game winning streak, opponents have made .284; in the NCAAT, opponents have hit at a .239 clip.

As was the case with the 3s we missed, I did not see that Duke was missing because of consistently incredible 3-point defense being played by NC State.

Many seasons, a team has a horseshoe up its arse in the postseason. This year, that team has been NC State.

Dammit.

Waiting for Santa cuz you just know he’s bringing you that Natty is delusional. This year, a lost opportunity. Maybe next year Santa?

This statistic is mind numbing…

https://x.com/john_fanta/status/1773913587347554468?s=61&t=gZBoYi_VDczg3gU8mzZwuA

From Fox Sports Research: Marquette went 4-of-31 on three-pointers tonight (12.9%), the 1,331st instance of a team attempting 30+ threes in a game this season in Division-I

Only one of those teams shot a lower percentage than Marquette (Furman, shot 12.1% vs Chattanooga Jan 6).

What you're saying is that you knew all along this entire season that North Carolina State was just sandbagging its way to becoming a Final Four team ... but that anybody who thought Marquette, a #2 seed, had a legit shot at the Final Four was "dreaming."

No. I’m saying that people who questioned the team’s ceiling were often mocked as being part of the COLE when in reality they were right.

No they weren't. This team did not reach their ceiling.
