I think it's an epidemic throughout the entire "industry". Announcers should remember it's TV, not radio, and that we are watching the game not listening to it. Does anyone remember the best ever, Ray Scott in the Super Bowl: "Star, Dowler, Touchdown". That's all he said and it was plenty. Some occasional comments about what's going on like how to handle a zone etc are OK.

Ray Scott was something else. I remember that authoritative voice like it was yesterday. Simple, plain, enjoy the game. Let the game come to the viewer.

Jack Buck was like that on television.
