Interesting that Wojo is so outspoken about Fischer having NBA potential- usually it seems college coaches try to downplay that angle, maybe saying "they could play for money some day", especially this early in a guy's college career.   He obviously thinks Fischer is mature enough to handle the weight of a goal that high.

Fischer and Henry should be a very good tandem next year, and hopefully they stick together, and are a dominant tandem in 2016-17.  Can't wait.

I am curious: How does this article attract virtually no response while the same old sh1t fights consume the passion and attention of Scoop??

Great perspective on Fischer, Wojo, and the future of Marquette hoops.

Speaking of Fischer, how many years does he get to play at MU? These mid season transfers seem complicated. If a guy plays a full season at a school and then transfers, he gets 3 more years at the new school after his year of sitting out, I believe. Or do you only get the 4 full years at a school if you redshirted at the same school? So does Fischer have 3 more years at MU or does that not work that way? Kind of complicated!

Because it was a positive piece and that does not interest the naysayers.

Pretty sure Fischer plans on invoking Otule's law and actually still has a full 4 years left after this year.

Just saw this topic as well.  Was a nice article on the current state of the program.  Though personally I wish Wojo hadn't spoken as if he went into this season with low expectations.

But wait....Otule's law gave him 6 years. So by that law, Fischer gets to play 5 more years. We deserve to make this stuff up as we go along.

Wojo has guts and integrity.  I was impressed when, out of principle, he sat JjJ at Xavier and played with 7.  I was even more impressed that he didn't pull any punches when asked why JjJ sat.  And now, Wojo isn't afraid to share his projection for Fisher.

I can't wait to see what Wojo can do when dealt a full hand.

Anybody who doesn't think Luke has NBA potential is delusional. He's got size and coordination, runs well and clearly has a variety of moves. With strength will come confidence. He's the gift from Bloomington.

I agree with the word "potential." He has to prove a whole lot more, obviously. Lucky for us he has two years to do a lot of proving and improving!

I liked the article, especially Wojo's candidness.

I think Luke has NBA potential.  But he'll have to work his arse off these next two summers to get there.  He'll need an absolute Jae Crowder/Jimmy Butler burning desire.  Not 100% sure of that yet.  We'll see by next year.

Glad to know that Wojo looked at who was leaving, the size and experience that was coming back, and realized that it was going to be a challenge.

I too am ready for next season. Can't get here soon enough. But what really excites me is the season after that. If Henry is still here....wow.

Considering how many close losses we have had this season, it's pretty reasonable to think if we had a proven and reliable 3rd scorer on this team to pair with Carlino and Duane - not to mention a reliable 4th scoring option - we would have won quite a few more games this year and would be a lock for the NCAA.  But - we lost Burton and Mayo.  Guys Wojo had here when he took the job.  But carry on, with whatever excuses you need to make for this year's overall poor performance relative to what Wojo inherited the day he took the job.

You can make an argument for some very limited blame on Wojo for Burton. Mayo was 100% on Mayo. Unless you think Wojo should have babysat Mayo at all times or locked him in his room during non-basketball hours.

In both cases, the transfer was on the player, not the coach. Burton didn't want to be here anymore, Mayo wasn't allowed to be here anymore.

There's also no reason to believe Burton would have been a reliable 3rd scorer. While the kid has a wealth of athletic talent, he was averaging 4.6 ppg/1.0 rpg in 15.4 mpg against high-major teams. Even if you doubled his minutes and he had no drop in scoring and rebounding output (usually it is the other way around) would the 9.2/2.0 be that much more valuable than what Juan, Steve, and Sandy are giving us at the position?

It is possible that Burton would have flourished more with Luke entering the fold. I do believe that having a big down there would have made his job easier, so maybe he could have blossomed come league play, but regardless, it's water under the bridge now. Kid didn't want to be in Milwaukee. Best of luck to him.
