BattleBots
« on: September 07, 2018, 02:12:23 PM »
I've been a big fan of Battlebots ever since the Comedy Central days, and recently, my kids have taken to it, watching the last three seasons on ABC/Discovery incessantly.  It's encouraging to see them taking an interest in STEM even if they don't realize it yet.

Surprised that I'm not surprised the ratings aren't better than they are.  I can understand why Live PD is in the top spot on Friday nights, but does anyone find it at all a bit concerning that the ratings for Fox and Friends and the Rachel Maddow Show on Friday nights are 4x higher than this:

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/v/GkbAcwYix7I" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">https://www.youtube.com/v/GkbAcwYix7I</a>

(It starts getting good at 0:42, it gets really good at 2:30)
Wow, I'm very concerned for Benny.  Being able to mimic Myron Medcalf's writing so closely implies an oncoming case of dementia.

Wow...that's kind of a difficult sentence to follow...but I think I get your drift.

I like it too, and always stop to watch when I am surfing by.  Fortunately, there are usually a couple episodes back to back.  I'd never seen that Minotaur robot before...that was a pretty good beat down.
Never wrestle with a pig.  You both get dirty, and the pig likes it.

Couldn't possibly top the old series. I was a big fan of that as well as Junkyard Wars (another show that some people like us might be interested in returning, but probably wouldn't do well enough to consider it).

I believe we stole several of these shows from the British, and the British variants were probably better.

The British Junkyard Wars was awesome. The short haired blonde chick too.

I too enjoy the bots and have been watching for a few weeks.  I catch it on discovery and science-Wednesday and Friday evenings..., when I can.

The original show is sincerely one of the reasons I married my wife.
Two shows she actually liked to watch with me when we were dating -- Battlebots and MXC.

The box is locked; the lights are on; it's robot fighting time.
