30 games this season not counting BET or Wisconsin Lutheran.
Whats your early Win Prediction??
Will try to re-poll after non-conference and midway through BE.
Its interesting to see what happens to the realists and idealists when stuff starts happening.
Keeping it open for 10 days...you can change your vote.
Thanks!

Going on record and letting everyone know I picked 25/30. Mark it down

And what is your basis for that whopper of a prediction?
-
I put 20 - 24. I think this team will steal a couple games they should lose, and by the end of the year will gel pretty well.

Same here Code. I think if Wojo is what we hope he is, we will work with the talent at bay, be much tougher and much more fundamentally focused. With a bit of luck, I'm guessing about 20 games, maybe with any luck, 21.
As Al once said, "A team is a reflection of its coach." Wojo's will be motivated to push harder than they can, never give up and grit their way into five or six surprise wins.
-
Too many things have to go perfect for this team to get to 20. No foul trouble, no injuries, tremendous developmental leaps forward by several players....not feeling it. 1.5 proven scorers at the college level, one guy bigger than 6'7, first time coach, new system. This season is a building block for '16-17. 10-14 wins. May I be completely wrong.
-
And what is your basis for that whopper of a prediction?
New foil hat, size XL.
-
0-9. Wojo gets canned and the Badgers win the National Championship.
-
Hate to say it but the Badgers will be good.
I think Deonte, Duane and Steve all excel and Fisher's arrival is a boost and that the team will win 20. Derrick will also be more confident and Carlino will be unafraid to shoot the ball which we need. JJJ May also surprise. Remember these guys were not allowed to play last year.
-
15-19
-
I am going with 15-19wins. I think we have missing pieces such as a post presence and a series of players that will need to develop. Anything above 20 indicates that this is a tourney team.
-

Out of curiosity I just looked up the Badgers' schedule and it seems pretty favorable for them this year too. I have no idea who is supposed to be good in the Big 10 this year but they only play Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State each once. The teams they meet twice include Northwestern, Penn State, Nebraska, Minnesota, and Iowa. During non-conference they have us, Duke, and Cal. Badgers have to be the favorite to win the Big 10 right? I just wish we were going to have Fischer when we faced them.
-
I took 15-19 with the emphasis on the 19, lot of question marks and a new system to learn. Hoping we gel, play well late and have a chance to play ourselves into the big dance.
-
Went with 15-19. There are so many variables in play this season that any prediction is a crap shoot.
-
this season...is a crap shoot.
I thought that was the Dance?
-
Voted 20-24....think it will fall between 18-22. Would be shocked if this team won fewer than 17 games.
-
My current thinking is 9-3 in non conference. Conference 7-2 at home. 3-6 on the road. 1-1 in big East tournament. So 20-12 record. If we go to NIT I think we win a couple for sure. Big Tournament probably lose first round. The big issue I have is team chemistry. There is enough talent to compete. Looking for big step up for JJJ.
-
Went with 20-24 b/c I'm a glass half full type of guy. That being said, I wish 18-21 was an option.
-
I'm not sure most ppl realize just how tough this season is going to be.... There are zero "known" quantities, including the entire coaching staff. That's not a reason to be optimistic in any way. Hope for the best but expect the worst.
My guess is 15 wins or less.
-
It's amazing to see the variation in expectations for the coming year. It's pretty wide even by our fan base expectations.
We have unfulfilled talent. If it gels, those of us who are optimistic will be fulfilled. If it doesn't, we have a nightmare
-
Our SG JJJ may be critical. How good is he? 0-5 from 3 at madness.

Probably why they cancelled the 3 point contest

This board is like sportstalk right now. We are analyzing the upcoming season based on a scrimmage.
That is how bored we are.
-
18-12 this year as the team matures
25-5 the following year. he team loses in the Elite 8, prompting Henry to stay a second year
27-3 the year after and we're playing in the NC.

Yep. We need the season to start.
I try to be optimistic, so I chose 20-24...knowing that many things need to fall into place for that to happen.
-
38-0
-
10-14 & closer to 10.
-
No way we get more than 19 wins, just won't happen. I still think this will be a very good season if you like basketball, but this team will be wildly inconsistent and will be learning on the job. There is talent but it is raw, I just don't think there is enough season to pull it all together. The coaching staff is new too, they'll be learning on the job as well.
The team could go 7-5 in non-conference, which means they would have to go 13-5 in conference to get to 20 wins, where do all those wins come from?
I think this team will be playing great by the end of the season, but it's going to take far too long to get there to be successful from a wins and losses perspective.
-
I like to be optimistic and hope for around 20 wins, I am confident we will be close to 500 at a minimum, people saying closer to 10 wins are being very negative, I would be surprised if that happened. There is talent on this team, they are flawed sure, but 10 wins? They can cover that.
-
20 wins. Book it.
But since this isn't your daddy's Big East, we will still be in the NIT.

Looks great!! I go with 18-12. Somebody start a poll on the over/under of 18.

Can't inagine MU loses to Georgia Tech or a Jahii Carsonless Arizona State.

Agreed, but we always lose one we shouldn't

Georgia Tech has some size though. I don't think that is going to be as easy as people think. Reminds me a lot of the match ups against Vanderbilt from a couple years back.
I am guessing 8-4 non conference. (Losses @OSU, UW, and two in Orlando) Somewhere between 8 and 10 wins in conference with a first round BET win gets Marquette in the 17-19 range.

If we count the BE tournament we may get to 20 wins. Without the tournament, I am voted in the upper teens.
But what do other teams think about MU? I imagine that AZ State and GT think MU lost it's best player and most of its scoring and rebounding with little to replace it. A new coaching staff, new system, etc. They probably look at us as a W.
I won't take a win against either of these teams for granted and hope we can beat both, but I don't expect it. Hopefully I am way off on this team and they surprise, but we really don't have one proven player on the team coming back. The best we have is a 5th year senior guard who may shoot it a lot with low productivity and Burton who has a lot of potential but hasn't proven it yet and was inconsistent last year. We have a lot of "IF's" on this team, and usually if you have more than one IF position, it won't be a great season. I hope I am 100% wrong.

True didn't realize that. Not sure about Vandy cause they had a couple other good players on that team but I think it reminds me of LSU when they ended our undefeated streak with DJO and Crowder
-
I'm guessing
8-4 Non-Conference (Ls: @OSU, WIS, and two of GT/MSU/ASU)
9-9 Conference (Ls: @GTWN, @XAV, @SJU, GTWN, @NOVA, NOVA, @PROV, and 2 of @HALL, XAV, @CREI, @BUT, SJU)
Total 17-13
With a 6 seed in the BEast tourney, we need to win it all in NYC to make the big dance. One or two wins gets us into the NIT. A loss might send us to the CBI. Given that our team will be better in the second half than they are in the first, a NYC run would not be unexpected.
-
0-9. Wojo gets canned and the Badgers win the National Championship.
Who let that guy in... but except for the canned part, not out of the realm.
This is in the realm too...
B10 sweep over UW,OSU,MSU
14-4 BE
BET champs
final 4
right? ;D

+1. That's the logic to my vote. If many or all of our 'ifs' come through then things are better, if few or none come through..egads.

But Wisconsin doesn't get to play in the BE or BET.
MU overachieves in Wojo's first year; 16 wins.
-
Poll closed. Thanks for the great response. MU Optomists never fail. We'll try another just before the BE. Fischer will be active....see what we think then....

Bump

Should be noted poll was taken before season and playig time were allocated. If I knew Derrbrick was going to play 33 minutes a game I would have predicted 10-14

I vote nightmare!
