Favorite DG play ever

With just under 10:00 in the first, we turned it over at half court. Gardner was trailing the play and hustled his ass off to prevent a 1-on-none breakaway score. Because of Gardner's hustle, the Providence player had to pass it to their trailer and Cadougan flew in from behind for the block.

The hustle and effort Davante showed was something that has definitely lacked at times over his career and is emblematic of how much he's busted his ass to improve his defense. Really proud of the big man's effort there. If we win, he will get my SOTG vote for that play alone.

Seriously, although it was a good play.  He didn't have to "hustle" to make the player give up the ball.  He was basically in position because he was dragging down the floor.  The unbelievable defensive play was by Cadougan who did hustle his ass off to make it back and completely cross the court to block the shot of a guy that had several inches on him.

The take off the bounce was pretty.

His coast to coast score against Wisconsin....but as the headline here read for awhile...

Devante Gardner is magic.
"I'm not sure Cadougan would fix the problems on this team. I'm not even convinced he would be better for this team than DeWil is."

The coast-to-coast against Wisco. will be hard to beat.

I didn't see it as "dragging".  Not at all.  Credit goes to both DG and JC on the play.

All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

I'm still sticking with the coast to coast vs. Bucky this year.

Disagree completely. We weren't pushing the pace, it was clear we were going to set up the offense. In that case, if it takes DG 2-3 extra seconds to get downcourt it doesn't matter. But he really moved getting back. I've never seen him go as fast as he did on that play and if he doesn't get great position to force the guy to dish it off and not be able to just go around him, Junior never gets a chance to block it. Huge play for DG there, especially from a momentum standpoint.
