Do We Pick Up A Mid-Year Transfer?
« on: December 06, 2014, 07:56:34 PM »
Last year we picked up Luke.  I remember Buzz saying he was contacted by a few other high D1 players but had no schollies to give out after Luke.

We have multiple open spots right now.  So, do we see Wojo add more players in the next few weeks?

Are we fully committed for next year?  If not, then it's possible if anyone is available that's worth it.

Wojos got alot of irons in the fire. Would be surprised if he went after a mid year transfer

It will all depend on who's available. If it's just a serviceable guy, I doubt it. If it's a top-50 guy that can play like he wants (paging Semi Olejeye) then he might take a shot.

We have openings now.  Expect dozens of announcements like Dawson/Burton in the coming days.  Maybe some of them will fit with us.

I think Wojo is thinking long term not short term. He wants to build a winning program not just a winning team for a season. It took Al 6 seasons to win the NIT and then the Golden Era of MU basketball began. Let's have some patience and see if he can do it. If we had Scoop back then everyone would be calling for Al's head in his first two seasons.

Spoke w/ Steve Wojciechowski. #mubb will likely add a walk-on w/ decision coming sooner rather than later. Relationship is already in place.
All this talk of rights.  So little talk of responsibilities.

A mid-year transfer would certainly help the team practice this year.  That fact alone, of course, isn't enough to take one.
You actually have a degree from Marquette?

No...and after reading many many psosts from people on this board that do...I have to say I'm MUCH better off, if this is the type of "intelligence" a degree from MU gets you. It sure is on full display I will say that.

Evidently, Wojo thinks ahead.

jsglow jr. still has all 4 years of eligibility left.  Just sayin'.

A 5'7'' 130 lb. white kid is exactly what this team needs.

Jake was a walk-on and became a starter...

A mid-year transfer from the Rec Center, eligible immediately.  A coup!

It would be silly for Wojo, or any coach for that matter, to not consider a potential mid year transfer that could help the team down the line.

Rec center? For what? So we can get a selfish ball hog? I'd rather have Wojo take a walk over to the Rec Plex, where the players aren't so 'me first'.

The need is in 7 days, not 1 year and 7 days. I'm not sure I see the value of adding a midseason transfer just because we have scholarships that opened up.

1.  Practice Body
2.  Potential to better balance the classes

And most importantly...

3.  You grab talent whenever you can.  (Luke Fischer example.)

Isn't Dylan Flood still at MU?  Didn't someone post something about him electing not to be a walk on again this year?  (Yes, I did try the search function).  He certainly fits the profile of someone who has a relationship with the program.  Could WoJo convince him to come back?

He chose to graduate early.
