Anybody who has paid attention to Wojo knows that him saying he is "fine" with 12 means he's playing his cards close to the vest.  What do you expect him to say?

I fully expect that they had plan Bs under consideration right after Gill turned MU down.

This is true and why it is premature to judge.  Frankly the only thing to judge is the results on the court -- the rest is just fun fan banter.

I just don't agree with the perspective that 'well Wojo tried really hard and no-one liked us'.  That feels too much like rationalizing mediocrity..

My guess is one of those plan b's is to just go small instead of wasting a scholarship on a guy just because he's tall.

How is it wasting a scholarship when it would be unused anyway?
I would take the Rick SLU program right now.

You can still use it in '17. I'd rather do that than use it on a kid that's likely to be cut a couple years down the road.

You're too nice. Wojo should use his scholarships. Take a grad transfer that will be role player if you're just gonna pocket it for 17.

There are still transfers that haven't announced yet and midseason transfer next season. The potential of getting one of these might be greater than the benefit of signing some schmo

I get it.  I know. I just think banking scholarships is very stupid and needs to end.

If you have a complete and balanced roster, I think keeping an open scholarship for a potential midseason transfer is a good idea that allows flexibility. Our roster, however, isn't positionally balanced.

Agreed. Fischer gets a major injury and the season is done. Need to look at using that schollie.

I don't think there is a single player out there that would make a lick of difference if Fischer gets injured. Reality is we are going to be a very bad team if Big Fisch goes down. Using the 13th scholarship won't change that.

Agreed on the grad transfer thought, still don't want to use it on a questionable '16 HS recruit though.

Let's get the Eke dude from Maine. That'd be a great play for 17 - go to battle with a 4 guard set in 16.

There is still time and movements to occur with players in college basketball prior to the 2016-17 year. Hope something nice shakes out.
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Matt Heldt has been the best answer to that scenario dice Gill went to Maryland.

Don't you know that he can't recruit and Stan Johnson is the only one who can?
