Marquette Student on Jeopardy!
« on: May 05, 2008, 12:39:50 PM »
http://www.jeopardy.com/mini_sites/collegechamps_s24/gamematchups/
This Tuesday, tomorrow, May 6th.
I realize by publicizing this I am opening myself to mockery of the horribly awkward promotional materials I had to take part in as part of the tournament, but MU doesn't seem very interested in spreading the word so it looks like it's up to me.
I dunno, I know I'm mostly a lurker and haven't been around much lately but it's good free exposure for MU on national TV  ;D
-Did you hear I finally graduated?
-Yeah, and just a shade under a decade too, all right.
-You know, a lot of people go to college for seven years.
-I know, they're called doctors.

If MU is not going to promote you, I would recommend wearing a Warriors Sweater.  I'll be watching.  Good Luck!

At the very least - put the kid from Georgetown on his butt ;)  Wouldn't mind seeing you knock of the UW-Mad girl either!

Thanks for the heads up.. added it to my tivo to record.

Good luck (and +1 on the warrior sweater idea)!

Chainsaw... this tournament was previously recorded (as opposed to a live broadcast) correct?  So you already know the outcome?

Yeah, we taped it almost a month ago, but I can't say anything about how it went ::)

Man... I dunno if I would have had the balls to sing the fight song solo like that... even if it weren't going to be taped :P

Congratulations on not making an ass out of yourself in your promo materials!

Agree -- nice rendition of Ring Out Ahoya.  Your pep band experience served you well.  Will be watching and (even though it's predestined at this point) pulling for you tomorrow!

Congratulations... what an awesome experience.  Good luck!

(Of course, since it's already been taped, that "good luck" may ring hollow, but I'll be rooting for you either way.)

That's awesome. I find it crappy, but not appalling that Marquette hasn't at least recognized in in an e-mail.

not a just recognition, but something nonetheless

http://media.www.marquettetribune.org/media/storage/paper1130/news/2008/04/03/News/Campus.Character.Marquettes.jeopardy.Contestant-3297790.shtml

Yeah, that was awkward. I basically kept saying "I don't know" to anything that wasn't about Jeopardy, and then she kind of circularly got answers out of that. No one reads the Trib anyway- except for that edition, because about an hour after the interview the whole Indiana thing went down.

AMAZING!!! I loved the blow out... clearly knew every 7 wonder of the world, with the ALL IN WAGER!

I found it advantageous to have a category of ON WISCONSIN for a Marquette grad, she got Oshkosh as the answer when the game was tight near the end.

Good luck in the semifinals!

Was there really a category of On Wisconsin on the show??? I guess Mr. Trbek doesnt know where Marquette is.

Alex Trebeck doesn't make up the questions.  He just asks them.

I'm guessing because it's hosted by Madison?

I guess i forgot to put the second sentence in the sarcastic font. Suggestion, dont take things to literal.

Today a clue was, this Wisconsin university was the first to admit women...

What is Marquette....

The crowd cheered, but I heard some boos I think too, I replayed it 3 times and guessed there were people cheering for the word Wisconsin in the answer, but then realized it was a rival and started booing

What's cool is that of the nine contestants who've played so far this week, Chainsaw's earned the most $$.
