3 Total points from Jae, Chris and our starting pg = Win?!?
« on: December 04, 2011, 07:14:44 AM »
We all know that numbers following a game against Wisconsin are typically skewed, but the numbers from our starting line-up are almost mind blowing.

Honestly...think about this:  3 points from Jae, Chris and our starting point guard (not to mention we were without Junior), and we still get a road win in Madison?!?  REMARKABLE team effort.

SOTG goes to DJO (his mid-range game is en fuego), but we have to recognize Derrick Wilson's D on Jordan Taylor.   The freshman gets last minute notice that he's starting, and then proceeds to disrupt/frustrate/lock-down a potential All-American candidate.

LOVE this team.

I was thinking the exact same thing. This truly was an incredible win for all the reasons stated. (No starting PG, little from Jae, etc.)

Plus this: MU took it to Bucky right from the opening tip, built a nice lead and then had the composure to hold off a frantic rally. All on the road against a team that just about never loses at home.

Showed great patience against a team that forces opponents to be patient. Even did fine in half-court offense, especially down the stretch; that had been a bit of a bugaboo.

This team has a lot of strengths, tremendous depth and excellent coaching. I couldn't have been more impressed with Derrick Wilson's defense. I loved the way Buzz used Davante Gardner -- seems like the big guy was in the game at all the right times and didn't play so much that he lacked energy in crunch time. DJO showed the heart of a great player in that he didn't have his best game but came through when needed most -- including at the FT line, where even our best players have had trouble late in games in recent years.

Truly very excited about the prospects for the rest of this season.
