Apparently we are in his top 3.  He is a PG and No. 105 on rivals.  Interesting how I haven't heard any talk about him on this board.  If we were to get him and Black, IMO we would of followed a great class, with an even better one.

He has been on Campus multiple times, including the MU elite camp. He is a super athlete.  He is not really a PG, he is more of a scoring wing player that is also a good defender. He is just a ok shooter and passer.  I'm not even sure that we have offered him?  Some of his Dunk highlights are on YOUTUBE and he could compete in the NBA slam Dunk contest right now.

As Buzz said yesterday, MU needs someone that can dribble.  Don't think Smith is that guy.  MU needs another point not a wing that can only dunk.

Has anyone heard anything about another guard candidate in Pe'Shon Howard? I thought it was down to us and USF but haven't heard anything since he went to visit USF around Midnight Madness time I believe.

He was quoted somewhere recently saying that we were no longer interested in his services after we got Blue.

Pe'Shon Howard said, that "All [the interested schools] got guards or something,” he said. “None of them on me anymore." ... and he's down to one offer - South Florida.

Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Thanks for the info on Howard.

I think Smith would be a solid pick up. We obviously aren't going to get a stud, so a guy just on the outside of the Top 100 would be a good pick up. Also he seems pretty different than Cadougan so he would be a nice change of pace and a high energy guy. Also, I don't know if this would have any effect in the future, but he plays on the same AAU team that Wayne Blackshear and Mike Shaw play on.

I also like his recruitment as a way to get us back into the Chicago market.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts: he's seems to have enough talent to play or spell Cadougan if he's not 100% or at least provide a change of pace if needed, and probably enough talent to compete for fill-in minutes over Buycks (you can't discount a senior with the 250+ minutes of PG experience he's going to be forced to get this year).  If everything goes right he's still not a Cadougan clone and could be good off the bench.  Not a huge need, especially after the praise Buzz gave to Blue's point guard abilities yesterday, but the right level of talent where he could play if he earns it, but you can justify having him on the bench or even redshirting him if that's what the situation calls for.

Seems that he also plays for the 49ers.  Talk about an athlete!

Red Sox for a number of years also.  Decent switch hitter. Can throw down a dunk as well.
