Hold on...he didn't blow off a meeting with Buzz.  He was in a boys v ball tournament that ran late...at least that is what I read here.  Buzz overeacted...then retracted...but by then that ship had sailed.

not gonna' look it up, i'll leave that for others, but, i  think there's more to it than that.

Exactly.  If we're going to get another one, we can recruit a better one for 2011 who will have four years of eligibility without wasting a scholarship next year to do it.  At least once he goes elsewhere *maybe* people can drop it after a good three years of hearing about him.

Disagree.  Jamil is a baller, I want MU to have ballers.  Find a spot if he wants to come.

And in his latest update, Jamil clarifies that he's not leaving Oregon, he was just home for spring break...

any shot we find a way to land dawson for 2011?

Not that one person should be a program maker, but Dawson is the real deal.

Family is not a fan of Coach Ryan.

Well, if nothing else, ya gotta love his family!

Who is this Dawson character that I keep hearing so much about?  Is he a local kid?

Branden Dawson, 6-6 wing from Lew Wallace in Gary. Watched him at the State Finals. The kid is E-Twaun Moore, plus 3 inches.

edit:  for the Crean Bashers:

The scholarship Indiana coach Tom Crean offered Branden Dawson earlier this year came packaged with lofty praise.
"He called me a Dwyane Wade look-alike," Dawson said.

I'm consistently amazed that such a terrible interface and reading format is so popular.

You'd think that after Crean tricked Bobby Capabianco with that line, it would have lost something.

Maybe he was twitting on his way back because spring break at Oregon ended on Sunday 3/28/10. The tweets are confusing and non-comprehensible.

here is what I predict will happen: Newbill is going to take the JuCo/Prep school route because his grades can't cut it. that frees up a spot for Wilson.
Also heard that Yous' parents are pretty well off and are willing to pay is own way. Also freeing up a scholarship

I thought Newbill had already qualified academically.

I have no idea why someone would comment on a high school basketball player's academic standing.  The only public comment Newbill has made is that he got a qualifying score on his ACT.

Kids cannot apply to the clearing house until after they finish high school. When kids say they are qualified it generally means that they have gotten a certain score on the ACT and SAT.

Ari I would edit your post.

All Ari did was be Swami Ari and make a prediction.  He didn't say he's heard Newbill's grades won't cut it.  No different than saying he predicts Newbill won't be as good as VBlue.  His prediction may turn out to be 100% wrong, but that's all it was.

I thought Newbill had already qualified academically.

From jsonline, in an interview with his coach:
Were there any other Big East schools that expressed interest aside from MU and West Virginia: "Rutgers, Seton Hall made inquiries but didn’t offer. The only reason why D.J. didn’t sign early with schools like West Virginia, Nebraska, Florida State was because he’d never taken the SAT. We put him in an SAT tutoring course on Dec. 5 for the first time ever he scored like a 1220, 1240 or something. He pulls a 2.6-2.8 GPA coming into his senior year, and that should increase dramatically because he’s on the ball in the classroom, so he should end up with a 3.0 or above GPA. So he’s more than qualified. But he qualified in December, and that’s when a lot of other schools started calling.

Edit: Ari, stay out of the predicting business. Or at least go to this new website, called Google

Indiana kid that is likely going to Purdue but there are others heavily involved, including MU, IU, Georgetown, Ohio State, etc.  He's a stud.  The Indiana classes of 2011 and 2012 are loaded with a lot of good players at various positions.

Surprise, surprise.  Gonna get as much mileage out of D-Wade as he can.  I don't necessarily blame the guy-  after all D-Wade is the best asset TC can leverage - his own coaching skills, not so much.  If D-Wade weren't at MU, there is no way we go to the Final Four, and more than likely wouldn't have advanced out of Round 2...after all TC never got us to a Sweet 16 without D-Wade, while getting us bounced in the First Round against Tulsa, Alabama, Michigan State.
