Draftexpress.com's 2009 Mock Draft
« on: March 27, 2008, 11:40:04 AM »
They've got McNeal and James going early in the 2nd round with McNeal ahead of James.

Well isn't this kind of a ridiculous mock?  I mean, first of all, isn't the age limit set at 19?  The "first pick" in this draft is 17.  Second, it doesn't even take into account the 5 freshman that are likely to come out this year.  Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but I was expecting guys like Beasley, Love, or Rose near the top, but they're nowhere to be found.

The fact that they are projected second rounders after their senior seasons does not bode well for either of their NBA careers.  The fact that they are lised in 2009 instead of 2008 indicates that the consensus is that they will be back at MU next year, doesn't it?

They do list a few guys on both the 2008 and 2009 boards (Stanford's Sideshow Bob being one of them, while is brother is listed just in 2008).

This is the 2009 draft, not the 2008 draft.  That kid will be 19 by the time the 2009 draft is held.  The other guys you mention are listed in the 2008 draft.

I can't believe Koufos is projected so high, he seems like he is a stiff, and in the NBA he will get destroyed, Joel Pryzbilla anyone?

Greg Monroe isn't in the draft, he is expected to stay more then 1 year at Georgetown... damn that sucks for MU

Koufos WILL BE Pryzbilla. But Pryzbilla has found a sweet gig playing behind a talented Aldridge and with a nice backcourt. All Joel has to do is man the middle, hack a Shaq, and snag rebounds. He's a decent rebounder! Koufos...he'll be lucky to be Pryzbilla and that's pretty sad.

IMHO, Monroe is one and done. Thank God.

hey leave the big greek fella alone. i actually thought 4 was high too i thought he would be around 15-20. however, one thing he really has is a good bball IQ. hes also got a good looking mid range jumper, which i think will be his bread and butter. I think he will eventually be a serviceable center and maybe some day make an all star game cause the position is very weak.

"IMHO, Monroe is one and done. Thank God."

Not so sure.  I have read that Monroe's stock was falling, and then I found this:

"Greg Monroe (Georgetown) -- 1 pt, (0-2 fg), 6 reb, 2 stl, 2 blk, 5 to -- Monroe would have to be deemed the biggest disapointment considering playing time received and hype coming in. He appears to be a guy who peaked at 16 years of age. For someone who has been rated as the number one player in the class for quite a while, 1 point in 20 minutes is a huge disappointment. He was much quicker and more explosive as a sophomore and with an added 30 pounds, no longer can utilize his greatest strength using the dribble to get by opponents after facing up. He lacks intensity, getting beat to the spot consistently by [Louisville recruit Samardo] Samuels for rebounds or post position. He doesn't seem to have the intensity or focus to be a dominant player. Granted it is an all star game so not exactly the place to second guess coaching, but Monroe was thoroughly outplayed by Mullens but for some reason received 20 minutes to Mullens 13. Monroe shows nice size, strength and court speed, and with hard work appears to be a player who could possibly develop into a first rounder after 3-4 years at Georgetown."

I saw Monroe vs. Norcross HS in Atl and he did nothing.  Al Faruq Aminu from Norcross (headed to Wake Forest) schooled him

Pryzbilla seems to have found a decent role with Portland as a solid rebounder and defender. Too bad that's all over with once Bowie...oops, I mean Oden makes his debut.
