Deadspin Taking ESPN To The Woodshed
« on: October 21, 2009, 04:58:19 PM »
If you haven't been following this story all day, it's quite the interesting journalistic read. Deadspin had gotten the scoop on the Steve Phillips "affair" a month ago, and ESPN said it wasn't true. Deadspin has slowly through out the day decided to air other ESPN dirty laundry, under the claim that if you keep denying things that are true, these other rumors we've gotten a hold of must be true too.

I'm not a fan of Erik Kuselias, so I'm kinda glad if someone was involved, it was him.

Boers & Bernstein are keeping up with the scandals as Deadspin breaks them.

I must say, I find the whole thing rather stupid...a bunch of people I never heard of, don't care about, and have no desire to ever meet, working for a private company are engaging in poor behavior. So what? As much as I dislike what ESPN does with most of their on-air programming,, the embarrassed party here should probably be Deadspin. What a non-story.

It will always be a story when it is a public figure getting busted for cheating.  People like to read about "celebrities," no matter how minor, screwing up.  I don't think that will ever change.

Different strokes for different folks. I know a few people at the worldwide leader, and do business with them, so I find it a story. Amazing how much of this gets pushed under the rug and never leaked out. The stuff that has gotten out over the years makes the trend here quite interesting...Tirico, Gary Miller, Berman, Harold Reynolds, now this stuff.

ESPN thinks it s**t doesn't stink because, in fact, it smells like sex.

Well I think we all know why he isn't a GM anymore as he is quite a poor judge in talent.

I don't know, seem like a pretty accurrate: Storm Trooper, Ewok, and Darth Vader to me.

You guys are being a little harsh on this damsel. Maybe she's very good at what she does.

She's revered for her guerrilla tactics throughout the Battle on Endor. She single-handily took down an AT-ST Walker with a vine tied to a tree.

I think the Salisbury e-mails from last month were actually more amusing, but I don't watch much ESPN so I'm not familiar with most of the names.

I have a lot of friends that work at ESPN in CT and NY.  Let's just say it's a fun enviornment to work in if you're single and an edgy one if you're married.  It's been going on for years and part of the culture there....right or wrong, that's kind of the deal.

Basically there's nothing to do in Bristol but bang...and the on-air talent are the jocks and the PA's are the cheerleaders/jersey-chasers...

Breaking from Deadspin: Steve Phillips has officially been fired by ESPN http://deadspin.com/5389689/steve-phillips-fired-by-espn
and he'll also be seeing "Treatment" http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4594666
I didn't know Chubby Chasing was a treatable disease
