Ooze defensive liabilities
« on: March 13, 2008, 01:57:53 PM »
I don't know how many times this year he's got caught overcommitting at the top of the arch, while his man will cut to the basket for an easy lay-up/dunk.  It occurred again last night...so much that you can see it happening before the play breaks.

If I'm an opposing coach, I'm bringing my big guy to the top of the key to screen and roll to the hoop every time Ooze is in the game.  I don't know how Ooze continues to make that mental error, but it absolutely drives me nuts.

On a side note, last night's effort from Trend further proved to me that Crean should've given this kid more pt throughout the season.  He provides such a lift around the hoop that this team has been desperately missing.  I was hoping Trend was going to through down that dunk on the baseline with the foul.  Definitely would've been added to his list of SportsCenter Top 10 dunks.

Its not just Ooze who gets caught doing that, Burke is also notorious for picking up fouls beyond the 3 and Mbakwe also got one last night.  Its frustrating to watch.
I'm not sold on Trend.  He's athletic, but has poor hands.  He's tall, but lacks strength. He can dunk, but otherwise can't score.  He has his good moments, but his bringing the ball up the court against Syracuse and having it taken away from him was one of the dumbest plays of the year.  He had a good game yesterday, but I doubt Crean is kicking himself for not having used him more during the season.
