I was at an Easter gathering with my nephew over the weekend - he played against Parham this year.  His insight: "he's good" :)

He did say that there's a good bit of local chatter about Marquette surrounding Parham, which is good news.  I think Shrewsberry leaving Penn State helps, for sure (although Notre Dame may now come into the mix).  Pitt is tougher to gauge.  Obviously they have the hometown advantage, but I don't necessarily buy that Capel has actually turned things around.

This is the interesting bit to me. Was the attraction to PSU about the coach or the family ties to the program? Or was it a mix, which makes neither destination likely anymore? Either way, glad to hear the local chatter involves us.

It should be noted that Parham visited Notre Dame and was being recruited by Brey.  The fact that the Penn St coach went to Notre Dame, but Penn St is still top 4 and Nore Dame isn't should speak volumes.  It seems Penn St is in Royce's top 4 largely due to his mom playing their.

I'm also glad the local charter is about Marquette.  Royce looks like a great fit both from a talent and culture perspective.

Oso can play some with Gold because Ben hangs around the 3-point line. I don't see how Oso and Edwards could play together unless Oso becomes a pick-and-pop 5. And that would seem highly unlikely.
In Nevada’s offense, it is more likely Oso develops a 3 than an elbow jumper as some have suggested.

Yeah, he announced his top 4 schools about 2 days after Shrewsberry went to ND, so you're likely correct that his interest in Penn State was more personal than coach-specific.  Mike Rhoades also offered him while at VCU, so there's certainly familiarity.

I like that he's impressed with MU playing at Fiserv and our fans - none of other 3 can match that.

i’d love to see an elbow humper. I’d love to see an elbow jumper. I love green eggs & ham.

I think it comes down to Pitt or Marquette.

Nice little short video on Tre Norman.

I've heard nothing but good things regarding his defense but this video lays out a few reasons why his offense may be next level as well.

Tre is a Villanova type guard and I couldn't be more excited that he's coming here.

Second leading scorer in the EYBL is more than fine IMO.

Also I can't remember a recruit I've been higher on relative to his ranking than Tre. I think he will great for us, and really embodies everything Shaka loves in a player.

I’m sure questionable advanced analytics on the offensive end lead to that opinion.

That's not the reason i say that.

Tre scored alot because his AAU team was just okay. Their regular season was 6-13. They won tight games, and lost in blow outs. They finished 13-16 playing the last series of games in the PIT at Peach Jam.  His AAU team had 3 D1 players on it, it was Tre, TJ Power, and Reid Ducharme. You could argue his prep school team was just as good if not better than his AAU. Tre was put in a position in AAU to score more than he "should have".

Tre is special on defense. He makes tons of hustle plays. Nearly had 2 steals per game and plenty of defensive boards for his size, over 6 per game. I only watched him play twice, but my conclusion was he is better at that end of the court.

Don't trust me... fine let's read Eric Bossi's 24/7 sports evaluation of him from last June.

"Norman is a tough and athletic off guard who plays with tremendous energy and physicality. He is at his best when he is getting downhill and is a strong finisher when attacking the basket. He does a nice job of pulling up and hitting the mid range jumper when driving lanes are cut off but has room to improve as a three-point shooter. Defensively, he has the potential to be one of the top on ball defenders in the class."

And then his player comparison was Marcus Smart.

Sounds like a better defensive player to me.

Would love to see OMax return and see a defensive lineup of Sean, Stevie, Tre, OMax, Oso.  Rebounding would be an issue.  But if Tre is as good as advertised defensively, that's a lot of ball hounding perimeter defenders.

The second leading scorer in eybl seems more than just a “fine” offensive player to me. However I haven’t seen him play yet so I’ll reserve judgement.
