Wisconsin Seed
« on: March 05, 2007, 11:27:48 AM »
Someone tell me again exactly what Wisconsin has done to warrant the seed everyone seems to think they are likely to get. They have exactly one road win against a team that will be in the NCAA tournament - which just happens to be against MU in an in-state rivalry game. After that, their best road/neutral win is a toss-up among Georgia, Ilinois or Iowa. That's pathetic.

I find it interesting that their first Big 10 Tournament game is likely to be against Michigan State. If they should lose that one, do they even get/deserve a 2 seed?

It fits Bo's style.  They haven't done anything super spectacular, but they haven't done anything bad.  Just like Bo's teams are perfect in the NCAA when they play a seed worse than theirs and winless when the team is seeded higher than them.  They do what they are supposed to do.  Not flashy, but also not inconsistent.

They are 6 in the RPI and top 5 in the polls.  That's a 2 seed to me.  I can't argue with that.

Its hard to argue with them being anything but a 2 seed.  Ohio State would be the #1 seed from the Big Ten and Wisc deserves the 2 from being 25-4 and beating us.  No way do both them and OSU get 1 seeds coming out of that conference this year.  I think a case could be made that G-Town is more deserving of a 1 seed, particularly if they win the BE tournament.
