This is ultimately a good thing for their program and the conference.  Mullin appeared disinterested and apparently was never big into the recruiting aspects of being a college coach.  Would not be surprised if he gets an NBA executive role in some capacity.

If St. John's is able to grab Bobby Hurley, it would be a great PR win for the Big East.  For a change, the league would be stealing coaches away from other power conferences and not vice versa (Buzz, Holtmann, Mack).

Agreed. Hurley would be a really great acquisition for STJ. I don't love that we'd have to play that sort of team, but it'd be a really good coup for the conference.
Assume what I say should be in teal if it doesn't pass the smell test for you.

Yes, St. John's superstar coach is stepping down.

Apparently they are looking at Rick Pitino and Bobby Hurley.  Watch out, both great coaches. Baggage or not they can coach.

Pitino would be perfect at St. John's.

A lot easier to hate him than Mullin, that's for sure!!

Isn't this the Rick Pitino famous for his use of hookers and pay for play as part of the recruiting process?  The one who got fired because of an FBI investigation?  Yep, just what the Big East needs.  This would lower the recruiting standard to that of the refereeing.

Fingers crossed Rick gets the gig. Puts a tad more glitz on the BE.

This is 100% going to be Rick Pitino.

I didn’t use teal for a reason when I posted this yesterday.

There’s no way Hurley takes that job.

St John’s needs needs a solid coach otherwise they are in a world of hurt and will bring down the Big East brand.

Per ESPN STORY,
——
The coach who replaces Mullin will have a roster in flux. Leading scorer Shamorie Ponds turned pro after the season ended, and Marvin Clark was a senior. The Red Storm's top recruit, highly touted junior college point guard Cam Mack, recently requested his release from the school, and four-star junior Nate Tabor decommitted Monday night. There are no 2019 or 2020 prospects currently committed to St. John's.

Meanwhile, St. John's redshirt junior Justin Simon plans to enter the NBA draft and sign with an agent, sources told ESPN. Simon was one of the best defenders in the country, and would have been a top returnee for the next coach. Additionally, sophomore guard Bryan Trimble Jr. has entered his name into the transfer portal, sources told ESPN.

—-

If all of that holds, they lose 5/13 of their roster and 1 recruit with nothing in pipeline. They could end up with 8 scholarship players. They will have Heron and Figueroa in addition to three transfers.  Simon could still come back but if they don’t go big they are not looking pretty.

I'd like to see Mitch Richmond in the HC role.  It's OK if St. Johns is borderline respectable and not dominant, it'd be nice to go to NYC and get a few wins over the next 3-4 years.  He's been an assistant there for 3 years and is definitely a guy I'd listen to as a recruiter.

Only need to be sturdy enough for about 30 seconds.

At Sypher's extortion trial, Pitino testified to having sex "very briefly" with her.

To an Irishman brief equals 30 seconds. To an Italian brief is more like 20 minutes.  Just sayin

I believe Pitino’s sworn testimony as a witness during Karen Sypher’s extortion trial was "No more than 15 seconds”
