Title: Georgetown game thread
Post by: real chili 83 on January 24, 2015, 01:11:00 PM
Arrrrrrh!

Bulldog liver on the menu.

Cut up in small cubes.

Wrapped in bacon.  Nummy bacon.

Tossed in the smoker at 210 degrees.

Served with those frilly toothpicks.

Go WARRIORS!!!!!

Four steps..."That wasn't a walk, coach!"

Our offense hasn't been inept for a change, but now the defense is back to terrible.  Can we get 20 minutes of both, please?

MU shooting 63%, yet down six.  Georgetown has taken seven more shots and DSR is on fire.

Fischer with two points (ugh), but has four blocks.

Carlino has 41% of MU's points today.  Over past few games:
St. John's 35%
Xavier      43%
Creighton 35%

Tough to win games with one guy scoring.

Smith Rivera is a stud.

We played a very good first half, yet GTown is very good.  Smith is a beast in the middle - and too strong for Luke (and virtually any college player other than perhaps Devante last year) to do anything against in a 1 on 1 situation.

Nice games thus far for Carlino, Duane, Cohen, JJJ.

Need to get something more out of Juan and Steve.

Duane wilson, ladies and gents.

very impressed by the left handed dunk

The degree of difficulty on that is incredible for a right handed dominant player.  Takes elite athleticism to be able to dunk with your weak hand, as a right handed player your left LEG becomes your dominant leg to jump off.  To be able to elevate off your right leg (weak leg) and finish with your left (weak hand) that is #specialdelivery.

I thought Du has said in the past that he prefers to dunk with his left hand.  If so, that is his dominant leg to jump off.  I know several high jumpers that are right handed, but prefer to jump off their right leg.  Everyone is different.

What you say is generally true, but I think Du may be one of the rarities that prefers to jump off the "off" leg.

hadn't heard Duane say that - though it looks to be true.  DJO was like that too...often dunked off his left leg with right hand

Wojo took Du Wilson out at 8 minute mark for Derrick.  The hottest MU player had not played for four minutes.

Back in now, lets see....

It was AWFUL to pull Duane when he is feeling it, in a flow, in a rhythm.  Kills the swagger and mojo you are feeling.  He could have put Derrick back in the game for Cohen or even Juan at that point...awful to bench Duane.

Here we go

Yes, last seven/eight minutes of each game has not served well.  Learning for the youngsters for next year.  All it takes is to win one of these.

It's playing with fire pulling a guy who is going hot - sitting him for 4 minutes - lose his sweat/flow.  And Duane isn't a guy who can't go 35-40 hard minutes per game.  He can go all game.

Have to make FTs.

In close games where both teams are shooting well, thats what it comes down to, a rebound here, etc.

BUT, Carlino and Duane have both missed frontends of one/ones.  Could haunt them big time. Terrible

Duane Wilson is Russ Smith dangerous and will be........wow......

Wish Wojo wouldn't have taken Duane out so he would still have his mojo

Get a clue - Duane brought us back from an 8 point deficit gets us a lead of 4...we send him to the bench.  Go down by 4, and now have to dig us out again.  Thankfully Duane has been able to - just awful to pull a guy in the zone out at the 8 minute mark.

IF only the numbers agreed with you.  LOL.

http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/compare?add=davante-gardner&i=1&p1=2-joshua-smith

Um what in those number don't say Josh is better. You're comparing part of a season to a whole but smith shoots better % from the field,  rebounds better %s, blocks a higher % of shots, steal% better, assist rate better has a better +/-.

Gardner shot better from the line and has a better Ortg, but everything else is advantage Josh.

Pts/40 is basically even
