I am going with 11th.  If we get wins against Depaul and then break NDs home court record, you will see MU take a big jump in the polls.  I am thinking between 5 and 7.  But that is only if we can get the big win against Notre Dame.

12 at best. They'll move ahead of ND and Teaxs or UCLA. There are also a couple teams lurking behind that could make some big jumps this week and move ahead of them (Minn, Butler, ASU, Xavier, even Louisville).

keep in mind that ASU (15) beat UCLA (7) yesterday, so they could leapfrog us

ASU lost to Cal earlier in the week so I don't think that they will jump us. Louisville possilby could jump us as they have beaten 3 straight ranked teams, but I expect MU to be about 11.

We won't leapfrog the #5 through #10 teams simply because we beat ND and snap their streak.  Those other teams will also have to lose for us to move up.

Meanwhile, even #11 this week isn't a sure thing.  Yes, Georgetown lost to Duke, but they also beat Syracuse--and Duke may well be the new #1, so losing to them may not be considered a negative.  Texas lost to Oklahoma--also a top 10 team--but beat Texas A&M.  While we SHOULD improve rank over ND, Texas and Georgetown and perhaps Clemson, I don't think it's a lock.

10 would be great because that is the "Top Ten". Granted, it's #10, but its funny how #10 is so much bettter than #11. Kind of like how if you are #25 and in the poll, it is way better than being #26 and only a few votes short of the Top 25.

We should move to 12. ND will drop. Georgetown won't move much. Losing to Duke at Duke is not a game that will drop them too far. Looservilee will likely shoot up about 7 to 9 slots.

While I love 16-2, we have not played the biggies in the conference yet, and most of the biggies have played each other. We do need to win some of those games. ND will be a loss. Pitt is beatable, so is Georgetown. Looserville is beatable--they live and die by the three. UConn will be tough for us and so will Syracuse

Reality Check:
>>>Real Time RPI has us at 18th, 6th highest BE team
>>>Power Ratings has us at 13th, 5th highest in BE
>>>Pomeroy has us at 23rd, 6th in BE.

While we were overrated to start last year, we will be underrated this year until we hit ND and GTown.  No Top 10.  I can even see Louisville jumping ahead of us.

I don't see why ND is a certain loss. We beat them 2/3 times last year and if Blackledge could have caught the ball it probably would have been 3/3. We both have essentially the same team.

They were a Trend Blackledge ESPN highlight dunk away from losing last year.

Before we start talking about ND and GT...let's deal with DePaul next weekend.

Who cares?   Keep taking care of business and the ranking will take care of itself.   Our next problem is DePaul.  Focus on the ranking instead of them and MU loses.

Umm, not to be a wiseguy, but unless one of us is secretly a coach or player, I feel pretty confident that we can discuss or focus on whatever we like, and it won't affect our team's outcome against DePaul one iota...

willie warrior.... MU was the last team to beat ND at home and they'll do it again this year and they played ND very tough at home last year as well...ND's defense is absolutely terrible and we will shred them apart as long as we do not completely rely on the 3 ball (although the way this team has been shooting of late who knows)... I think the key will be to go at Harangody and get him in foul trouble early

this cracked me up "legacy"  I always get a kick out of people who say things like "We can't take them too lightly" or "we better not look past the next game" as if they are on the team.  WE can do whatever we like - WE can talk about the BEast tourney or March Madness all we want.  WE won't affect how the team prepares for Depaul

I'd be happy to be proven wrong though.  :)

I think 10.  We could be as low as 12, but with all the acknowledgement of how great the Big East is this year, I've got to believe being alone in first place, half a game better than Louisville, is going to get attention to give us those extra couple of spots.  Voters aren't going to think we are the best team in the Big East, but just being in first is significant.
The www.valueaddsports.com analysis of basketball, football and baseball players are intended to neither be too hot or too cold - hundreds immerse themselves in studies of stats not of interest to broader fan bases (too hot), while others still insist on pure observation (too cold).
