Is this the weirdest rule in sports?ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Iditarod officials on Wednesday imposed a two-hour time penalty on musher Dallas Seavey for not properly gutting the moose he killed during the race earlier this week.Race marshal Warren Palfrey convened a three-person panel of race officials to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the moose, which became tangled up with Seavey and his dog team early Monday, about 12 hours after the dayslong race officially started. One dog was injured in the encounter and flown back to Anchorage for care.If a musher kills a big game animal like a moose, caribou or buffalo in defense of life or property during the race, rules require they gut the animal and report it to officials at the next checkpoint.https://www.yahoo.com/sports/iditarod-issues-time-penalty-seavey-010703331.html
It is a big deal where many are subsistence hunters and a moose is a great prize . That can feed folks for a good long time
Moose jerky is excellent
Moose have every right to take out humans with zero mercy. We have treated their species abysmally.
Moose are idiots
From the story, it doesn't sound like he did anything to prevent consumption. The moose was retrieved and its meat salvaged and processed. Iditarod associates in Skwentna were distributing the food.
The meat will spoil if you don’t remove the entrails Bacteria will proliferate quickly
Pretty sure the Moose carcass didn't go to waste. Wolves, Grizzlies and Vultures probably had a feast.
What is it with people and not reading.

Elmo The Gorilla in scary moment with Zookeeperhttps://nypost.com/2024/03/09/us-news/texas-zoo-gorilla-charges-at-fort-worth-zookeepers-inside-enclosure/
I wonder if he was upset at people constantly trying to tickle him.
There are probably too many reasons to ponder as to why Elmo may have been angry about something.
Have we determined who would win between a Gorilla and a Bear?
