If there's a moment in time that defines "We are Marquette!" this is it!

The well-publicized photo with old man Hughes is priceless! This moment is who we are at Marquette. Celebratory, We Don't Give A Damn Moment in our history!

I remember that game. Man, if there was an internet then scoop would have been in an epic meltdown.

When Al was asked about the famous gesture from Mr. Hughes, his response was that the Hughes father was just showing everyone he knew that Marquette was No. 1!

The original photo edited Mr. Hughes' extended digit. That digit was reinserted in the photo in the next day's sports section.

Go Warriors!

Glenn Hughes vs Al McGuire

Journal Sentinel's #28 in Wis sports history.

Quote
The photo turned a memorable chapter in the rivalry between Wisconsin and Marquette into an iconic moment. With McGuire's back to the camera, we see Wisconsin coach John Powless walking away dejectedly, Marquette assistant Hank Raymonds in a rare moment of jubilation, and Glenn Hughes letting McGuire know what he thinks.
