Title: Greatest Week In Milwaukee Basketball History?
Post by: Not A Serious Person on January 21, 2019, 01:15:37 PM
MU Men Ranked 12
MU Women Ranked 10

Only D1 program with BOTH the men's and women's programs in the top 12

The Bucks are 33-12, best record in the NBA

Milwaukee High School baller Jalen Johnson (Nicolet) is the nation's #4 junior recruit

In the High School Sophomore class

Patrick Baldwin Jr. (Hamilton, Sussex) is the nation's #1 recruit
Michael Foster (Washington Tech, Milw) is the nation's #3 recruit

--------------

Has there ever been a better time to be a bball fan in Milwaukee?

(that is beside the smart a$$ answer of March 1977)

Adding ...

Markus getting consideration for NPOY and Wooden award

Antetokounmpo getting consideration for MVP.

It is not out of the realm of possibility that the nation's #1 high school recruit (soph), College Wooden and/or NPOY and NBA MVP are all playing in Milwaukee right now!

This week in 1971 wasn’t bad with Marquette ranked #1 and the Bucks having the best record in the league on their way to the championship!

But to your point, this is fun and we should enjoy it!

Going into today, MU and the Bucks are 33-4 at Fiserv Forum.

It's pretty, pretty good.

I agree with the OP as far as the overall numbers but nothing can ever compare to 77 as an MU fan,

The FF is an amazing place and we are lucky to have it,  its so awesome to have a hostile environment for teams to play in both pro and collegiate.

Have nothing but great things to say about the forum except parking is tough with elderly folks unless you have a season pass.

A buddy of mine brought his grandparent in and the wheelchair wouldn't fit in the door either, very surprised by that.

"its all happening"

If the biggest criticism you have about Milwaukee basketball is elderly getting through the Fiserv parking lot, then we have hit perfection!!

January 9, 1972.  The Bucks stopped the Lakers 33 game winning streak on National TV (ABC) and Marquette beat 4th ranked South Carolina on National TV (TVS) in the fight game.  Each had separate stories in Sports Illustrated the next week.

Sam Hauser and Natisha Heideman are both BEast Players of the Week.

Joey Hauser is BEast Freshman of the week.

Maybe not the best week ever, but it's a great time to be a Marquette bball fan.

Thanks for this update.  So, this might not be the best week ever ... just the best week in 47 years!

They didn't specify which UW-M they were talking about. Both UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison are hyphen schools.

Some great stuff going on, but no week in January is going to compare to some of the weeks MU has had in March.
