Title: [Cracked Sidewalks] Long Island Preview
Post by: brewcity77 on October 18, 2022, 07:19:19 AM
If you like the kind of cupcakes that are so sweet you get a cavity after one bite, have I got a team for you. Cracked Sidewalks presents the LIU Sharks, a team whose #347 preseason T-Rank might be wildly optimistic.

This is the one where this year's Magic Dawson goes for 11 and 8 and scoopers want him to start.   Or Keeyan gets 5 dunks and is ready to dominate.

OK, somebody come up with a scheme to get this game canceled.

Why?

Why?

With their super low rating, just playing them could be a drag on us come March. Obviously just joking on my part, but I really do not like to see us play teams at the very bottom of D1. That's all.

If we beat them by 30+, all is well.

RPI is dead. They would only be a drag on us in March if we lose to them by a closer margin than we should. If we pound them by 30 it won't impact us. If we pound them by 50 it would actually help us in March.

Thanks for your reply. I guess it's just a personal thing to me. I do not like watching sub 300 teams, but I get your point.

Had to worry about losing to Radford, now have to worry about whether we lose to Long Island by a close margin or not.

Sure neither do I. But it's better than no game IMO.

Who said anything about losing to Long Island?

You did, presumably a typo but you said "they would only drag us in march if we LOSE to them by a closer margin."

Think Wades was making a joke and new you made a typo. Due to all the Radford fear that randomly came about.

Whoops, so I did. Yeah, definitely meant win not lose

So I'm assuming this matchup was handed to us by the Fort Myers Tipoff organizers, and we did not have any say in the opponent, right?

Because there's dogs, and then there's mangy, flea-bag, blind, three-legged mutts like LIU.

Marquette 88
LIU 59

I'll be at this one! Took off of work on Friday just so I could enjoy a full Thursday night of MU Hoops!

Hopefully this can be a tune up for Mississippi State on Monday.

Glad it’s a quick turnaround from yesterday and excited to get back into the win column. NET implications are significant for these games, so it’s important MU still plays a good game and wins by a very large margin.

My hope is that Wrightsil, Sean, Ross, and Keeyan can all get 10 minutes of run.

They'll all get run. Guys are probably going to be dead-legged from the quick turnaround and it should be a blowout.

I'm not a gambler, but -23.5 seems like a short line for Marquette. Utah beat this team by 41, their best player hasn't suited up yet, Strickland hasn't figured out his rotation or starters, and they are being priced like the top-275 team they've been each of the past 5 years and not the garbage outfit they are after the player exodus that followed Derek Kellogg's late June firing.

In two games this season, Rod Strickland is figuring out the rotation and his projected best player, Maurice Commander, has yet to play. We've updated the original article with what we've learned about LIU.

Seems like the line moved quickly. Was -30.5 this morning. Vegas must have gotten word that Wrightsil is a full go tonight.

Even pushed up to -29, the line was still too small.

OMax is awesome.

You can tell that he really believes in Shaka and everything he has to say. Repeating Shaka's slogans and phrases over and over in the postgame. Shaka isn't just saying these things to say them, there is real buy-in in the tone of his players.
