couldn't find keefe's thread-
did you hear anything about the student pilot crashing an F-16 in baghdad, az?  i'm in lake havasu city right

now and was wondering what all the noise up above was?  more than usual. man, those things fly(no pun

intended)  you can hear them like they are right above you, but really hard(if at all) to actually see them. the

sound just echos off the mountains and swirls around.  i can understand how that could fudge with your head

out in the field of battle. i'm assuming the next thing ya hear is oh....kaboooom!  havasu about 60 miles due

west of baghdad as the crow flies.

keefe if you are out there anywhere-just wondering?

also noticing 2 single prop planes flying in formation right over me at no more than 500 feet (that's about the minimum altitude, right?) multiple times per day.  they are pretty fast little sons of beaches too.  just wondering if anyone is familiar with what those are? and if there is anything going on.  been here for 6-7 years and have never seen these guys before.  plus a little more whirly bird activity-could that be due to crash out of baghdad?

The air space around where you are at is a target rich environment - there are F 16's out of Luke, Hill, and Tucson Int'l, A 10s out of D-M, and pretty much everything flown in the Free World out of Nellis. Lots of restricted airspace over Nevada which has a lot of live fire ranges so it draws training missions like spandex on a Kardashian.

If you heard a kaboom it could have been a number of different things depending on the kaboom but it likely wasn't the ROC Falcon Driver who augered in 60 nm from where you are swilling beer in the desert.

Enjoy the show out there. I miss ripping along at the speed of heat.

the kaboom i was referring to was in the heat of battle as in desert storm-if all you hear is the jet, the next thing you may hear can't be good. that's why i think their hats may come in handy you can rarely see them because of the speed, altitude, dust and sun glaring off the cirrus clouds-and if you are al queda or isis, that's got to play with your head.

i personally haven't heard any explosions of any sort, thank God. it is fun trying to find and follow the flights of those f-whatevers though.  we could do a non-stop national anthem out here on some days.  my neighbor says she tries to show her ta-ta's whenever a low flyer comes through-damn, i should have enlisted in the air force when i was knee high to a grasshopper.  i heard the views are pretty good-heyna?

what about those small, fast, single prop, low flying dudes?

Could be any of a number of things. Odd that they are form flying but that could be some guys joy riding.

Here in Seattle, Paul Allen has a private collection of WWII aircraft so it isn't unusual to see a three ship of a Mustang, Spit, and Zero form flying at 500' off the deck. Those old pistons have a unique sound so you always know that it's a warbird rather than a Cessna fly swatter.

As for women showing their wares...whenever you see a boat it is always worth dirtying up to bleed off airspeed...the sights can be magnificent!

Saw in my hometown newspaper that a local boy was flying one of those jets.  Very cool for a Broncos fan, I'm sure.

I'm guessing a lot of those guys were eating their scrambled eggs the next morning off of some magnificent teats...

Click on the video while using your cell phone. It gives you the ability to look 360 during a Blue Angels practice run. Gives you an idea of what it's like to be in the cockpit of the best flight demonstration team in the world.

that is TITS MAHONE man, i wish i would have pursued flying a little more. that and scooba diving. it intrigues

the hell out of me.

my wife is always beaching at me when we drive past airports to keep my eyes on the road as i'm watching all

these big dogs approaching/taking off.  in havasu, there are many different types of aircraft flying overhead,

the number of air force bases nearby and the airport just 7 miles up the road; from air force jets to helicopters

and cessnas, those older bombers flying in pattern...  it's gotta be in the top 5 of the things one can do with

your clothes on, sans viagra, eh'na?

don't...don't don't don't don't

That's awesome.  I never tire of watching them.

I'm assuming that was pretty heavily edited.  I wonder how long they actually were in the air.

how do they communicate to each other to allow them to fly in such tight formation?  i'm thinking there are coordinates, speed, altitudes, etc to lock in to?  just curious.  then how would you take into account turbulence?

why did they have landing gear and tailhooks out while they appeared to be cruising as opposed to readying for landing?

what would a decent, but not super expensive flight simulator cost for a home hobby thing?  i messed around with one years ago on an old computer, but never really got the hang of it.  now, i'd like to look into it as i'm starting to have a little more free time

It's all rehearsed, almost like like an orchestra right down to the flight lead conducting in a measured cadance...."reeeeaaaaddyyy, oookkkk, pull pull pull pull, release annnnndddd pull" etc.

And they dirty up for effect, not just landing

You mistakenly posted a Blue Angel vid. I think you meant to post a Thunderbird vid...

Actually, flight demo stuff is great but the pointy end of the spear is where it's at. Thunderbird F 16s are beautiful but I prefer Vipers 25 hours a day.

AL ANG Viper guys in action saving lives. Sierra Hotel.
