I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing with Muggsy.
Switch to decaf.
Enormous game for us when you look at our schedule. And very winnable. My hope is our putrid 2nd half today will lead to a far more focused group. We have to find a way to get this game and back on track.
And I will not drink decaf. Ever. A total mickey-mouse beverage. I will also add that the pod coffee machines are the biggest con of the 21 century and a disgrace to quality coffee as well as the environment. You are being conned people, drinking bitter brown water, killing our planet, faking enjoyment, getting extorted, and should do some serious soul searching.
We have a treacherous December schedule whether you guys want to admit it or not. We do not want to start the BEast season with three consevuitive non-c losses. Now you're more than welcome to continue to attack me but the fact is momentum isn't irrelevant nor is team confidence. Margin for error is also a real thing btw as are road games vs quality competition. Of course you want to peak by March but K-State is a vitally important game in terms of its potential to impact our overall resume and and early BEast conf schedule games.I've never had a full cup of coffee in my life. Turns my stomach.

We do not want to start the BEast season with three consevuitive non-c losses.I don't think anyone has denied how tough the December schedule is, nor does anyone (maybe outside of Nolonger) want them to lose the next two. Acknowledging that it's likely to happen is dealing in the reality of the situation. This team, while it had a great November, has some real deficiencies that might not be fixable without an off-season.

I've never had a full cup of coffee in my life. Turns my stomach.
It depends on your expectations for this season. If we want a NCAA bid without having to win 12+ Big East games, you're right. But we can still make the NIT or even get to the bubble conversation with a 7-4 non-con record. We will finish with an overall losing record, if we lose to K St.

Totally agree, both on decaf and coffee pods. Making a quick cup of coffee on a simple drip brewer is quick and easy, and yields much better coffee with less damage to the environment.

We looked like a bunch of lost freshmen today who can't shoot.

Muggsys covfefe rant really is exactly what I needed this morning.
I’m over here staring at my Nespresso machine wondering who I can con it off on as a Christmas gift so I can pick up a pour over setup.
Muggsy any recommendations on what I should go with next?
K-State down 17-8 vs the Shockers. This will likely be the worst team in the B12.Might just be a tad premature on that statement.

He's just waiting for his pour over coffee to finish blooming.
If you're not blooming your grounds, you might as well be drinking bean tea.

K-State struggles to score/shoot.
K state stinks which is why it is imperative to win this game. Muggsy is right.
They were 5.5pt dogs in this game. They've played well.
They've shot 34%
So you're saying they'll barely keep up with Marquette's scoring %? lol
It's time for us to step it up. Excellent opportunity for MU to get back on track and then ya never know about UCLA after a long lay-off.They'll be well rested.....
They'll be well rested.....
And rusty. It may very well help MU and they are capable of brick city. Was a meme joke
I have a Hario ceramic dripper which cost $16. I think the newest model is the Hario 60. Chemex is fine as well but I think ceramic retains the heat much better. Is no one going to acknowledge this? Incredible coffee recs here. Sommelier-level advice.
I for the most part only drink prime-time, quality coffee Dr. V. Usually 100% Pure Kona Peaberry or Estate because I have a close friend with a home there. On a rare occasion I will make Turkish coffee which is quite strong and there's a bit of an art to the process. So I have a drip maker, French Press, pour over, and a Turkish Ibrik.
As for prime-time coffee and the best brew I actually think the pour over is infinitesimally better than the French Press but with a caveat: The French Press is a better value because you can steep the beans longer. So my Kona beans when I use a French Press basically last me twice as long as they would with a drip machine.
You are forgiven Dr. V for your Capresso monstrosity but get rid of that freaking thing ASAP. :)
Let’s revisit Jan. 1st and see how we’re all feeling

Muggsy
They need to steal as many W’s as possible the rest of the way. There are not many easy games out there and they need to find a way to win some games they are not expected to win. For me, I don’t care how they do it, just do it. Building a winning foundation is the goal for the season, IMO.
Osa is 20 lbs of muscle heavier and uninjured. He had just had his best game when he got hurt.
I will agree that he should have played more than 38 minutes prior to his injury.
Osa is going to be dude if he sticks around. So much upside. For all the hate that Wojo deserves, he did leave behind some really solid pieces in Justin, Osa, and the two freshman in Stevie and Kam.
Is no one going to acknowledge this? Incredible coffee recs here. Sommelier-level advice.

Awesome, thanks!
Moka pot my man.
I haven't used a Moka Pot but I've heard it's a bit tricky to get it just right. Do you drink your coffee black, with cream, or both? Isn't the grind relatively coarse?
Breakfast today…..cup of Green Mountain coffee, eggs, and elephant bacon.
K State, we got this.
I'm not at your level of afficianadoing but I think they're pretty idiot proof. We use a fine grind and I take cream and my.wife drinks black and we both wouldn't use anything else (we used to press, haven't tried the fancy drip) but it uses about 2tsp a cup.
It's great for us because we each only drink 1 cup in the morning so each cup.ia completely fresh.

There is ZERO reason to belittle and ridicule elephants in any way, shape, or form.
You spelled it wrongMoka potCona coffee maker my man.
No prob. Also, if you haven't made pour over coffee don't worry if you fk up a few batches. Here are a few pointers:
Pre-wet the filter with hot water before putting a medium grind in the fliter and dripper. Just wet it thoroughly before dumping the water.
Do not rush the process. Preferably use a goose spout kettle because it's far easier to control the pour. Just use a thin spout if you can. Once your kettle is piping hot and ready, wait about 45 seconds and then cover the grounds with just enough water.
After waiting about 30 secs pour the rest of the water pretty slowly but continuously from the center and then counterclockwise. It should take about 3 1/2 mins.
When you're done pouring the water give it one gentle stir to extract from all the grounds stuck on the sides of the filter.
Lastly, remove the filter immediately after the water goes through. You don't want to let it sit and have the last few drops ruin the batch.
This right here is why Keurig exists. When you're rushing to get into the office for that early meeting, you're barely alert enough to focus on a few emails and you need a wakeup fast, you pop in a cup and you're drinking (low quality, but purpose made) coffee in 20 seconds. When you've got a little extra time at work, the French press to the rescue... anything more than that and you're wasting time on a busy day.
Anything else is for the weekend... as long as you don't have young kids who demand your attention. Unless you're retired, then bless your heart.
Ultimately, a bunch of freshmen got beat by avery talented teamanother bunch of freshmen.
FIFY. If we're counting Lewis & Oso as Frosh, then Davis & Crowl are Frosh, and Hepburn is a true Frosh.
Yep - new age of college basketball. Most teams experience roster transition and count on young guys. It’s all about quick results. Eric Musselman spoke about it last season and how he integrated something like 12 new players and why they found immediate success.
the whole board in a tailspin.
Tomorrow is an interesting matchup. Both teams focus on defense, but theirs is quite a bit better than ours. Both teams struggle on offense, but ours is (surprisingly) quite a bit better than theirs. We play fast, they play slow-ish. We've struggled with that, but generally against much better offensive teams.
I see the game as basically a toss-up, but think MU has a great chance to win. It may (likely) come down to fouls and free throws, where MU is significantly better (FTR).
Disagree. It did shake confidence a little bit, but I don't see much tailspin.

Musselman is probably one of the top 5 X’s and O’s Coaches in college hoops.
He also intelligently builds rosters to compete from day 1, regardless of experience level.
Interesting to hear what he looks for skill wise and analytics wise from transfers and how that would fit into his teams for the following year.
I don’t think he can win a national title but I’d be confident his teams would be competitive and tourney worthy every year
Heard that.
I’m in the group with the young child that requires attention, but don’t have to worry about emails in my field. I used to rush out of the house to get to the office but now wife and I are up an hour early because he’s up.
I think the point that Muggsy is trying to make, which I tend to agree with, is that you can always find an extra 15 minutes in the morning for better coffee, especially if you drink it daily.
Sometimes we move so fast that we forget about why we are moving so fast. We forget to slow down and just enjoy life.
It always cracks me up when people say they don’t have enough time in the day but can spend 3 hrs watching Netflix, or several hours on MUscoop 😂
That said I think the bigger deterrent is what initially seems like a “complexity” involved with the better setups. All the different parts and finding the right coffee and weighing the beans etc etc.
I’m sure it’s just a learning curve that becomes pretty easy after some time and repetition. You’ve gotta win every day as former coach would say.
Wonder if Bruce Webber drinks coffee, he seems pretty jittery
Marquette "opens" +3 @ KSU.
Interesting
