I LOVE the Big East
« on: January 26, 2019, 04:51:39 PM »
Gotta say - I love this new version Big East.  Sure, there will be years it only gets 3 teams in, but it’s shaping up to be exactly what it was designed to be; 10 like minded schools with passionate fan bases and teams that ‘pretty much’ have the capability to be contenders any given year.  The 18 game slate challenges teams to grow over time without ever giving you a night off.  No softies, road games are tough, and the cream rises.  You don’t have to kill your self in nonconference to make up for the league and yet you also aren’t going to have 8-10 games against the Dukes, UNCs, Villes, etc of the world that can quickly derail a season.  It’s the perfect balance in my mind.  And in those years where the overall league talent is high you’ll see 7 out of 10 teams dancing.  Awesome.  Very fun to watch night in and night out.

And Butler Xavier and Creighton were the perfect adds.

Go MU!

Cosign. I was worried about the loss of some big names at first, but this league looks like it could stay in its current form for a long time. And all three adds have definitely held their own.

It’s a good league, but will never be the best. That’s ok though and beats any alternative. Really made the most of that terrible situation unfolding. Thank you Larry lol. There is a lot of junk at the bottom of the other power conferences. Sure it’s nice to play Lville, Cuse...but it wasn’t as fun playing South Florida, Rutgers, etc.

Additionally, it’s nice to see some teams like seton hall and providence step up in recent years. They were part of that “junk” I mentioned previously.

Also, shoutout to Val Ackerman, she has really been an underrated, steady force behind the league.

Good job that the Catholics moved when they had the votes.

The football schools were bailing when they wanted, and the prospective members were, ahem, less than satisfactory.

Love the composition  of our new league, and the current schedule fosters rivalries.

Most of all, it's a basketball league!
