Is this confirmed? If yes that's awesome!

From somebody who would know.

Sounds great to me. Hope he gets in playing shape quickly and becomes part of the rotation in short order.
-
Great news. Hopefully he can get some solid minutes and even more vs Ball State.
-
My hope is that he can force feed during non-con schedule even if he makes mistakes so as to be ready for BEast.
-
Great news!
-
So if he comes in and plays like our other freshmen saviors, who or what are we going to pray for?
-
So if he comes in and plays like our other freshmen saviors, who or what are we going to pray for?
This. Reminds me if that year (2007?) that everyone was hoping and praying for otule & fulce to get healthy and play.
-
He's a freshmen, let's allow the young man to be a freshman. Expectations in check
-

+1 Voice of reason.
-
So if he comes in and plays like our other freshmen saviors, who or what are we going to pray for?
At the least, he gives us another option at the point. If he contributes meaningfully, terrific.
-
So if he comes in and plays like our other freshmen saviors, who or what are we going to pray for?
I see what you did there. :D
-
The season is saved!!!!
But seriously, folks ... I am looking forward to seeing him, as we all are.
First, we need the help. Second, it's the whole curiosity thing. Unlike some of y'all, I've never seen him play one second in high school or anywhere else.
-
If we see even just one bit of promise and flash in his game on Saturday we can get even more excited. We don't execute many "pretty" plays on offense any more.
-
He's a freshmen, let's allow the young man to be a freshman. Expectations in check
Yep. Not to mention that he has missed virtually all practices and every game. Need to be realistic.
-
I don't think I've ever been this happy.....
-
Have you no sense of reality? A freshman thrown into games with little practice, probably not totally in game shape, and doesn't yet know the system and has never defended at a D1 level is worth a couple exciting plays, a bunch of turnovers, and countless "points against". I do hope the young man is fit and well but zero expectations from here.
-
I am happy for Duane, but there is every chance that this is Junior Cadougan, circa 2010, all over again. Temper your expectations.
-
I don't get all the commotion about Duane. Dawson is already better than he and Derrick combined.
-
Heretics! He will lead the team in points, assists, rebounds, steals, and the stress fracture will have given him a peculiar spring to his jump that will enable him to break McIlvaine's career blocks record in one shortened season. The Elite Eight would be a disappointment now that one of the gods is suiting up for us.
-
I dont get why everyone is making fun of this. His coming back certainly wont hurt..
-
Buzz said at the preseason luncheon that he had to fill 25 minutes after Duane got hurt. He was going to play a lot of minutes for Marquette, let's hope he can get back to that level this year.
-
Even if he won't be ready to contribute Sat, this is great news for conference play.
We need all the offense we can get and Duane has shown in high school he is a natural playmaker. If he can be a 10 minute spark off the bench, it will make all the difference in the world.
-
Bottom line: for us, for the team and for the young man, it's always great when an injured player returns to action. I'm happy god him.
-
And while expectations should be modest, let us not forget that the Three Amigos started as Freshmen and carried us through a good initial BEast season. All I'm saying is that if this year's crop can grow up faster than expected...
-
Buzz said at the preseason luncheon that he had to fill 25 minutes after Duane got hurt. He was going to play a lot of minutes for Marquette, let's hope he can get back to that level this year.
He didn't imply that all 25 minutes would go to Duane though (or any of them, to be honest). He just seemed to suggest that there were 25 minutes on the perimeter available if one of the players could step up and fill them.
-
Odds are he'll show flashes of being very good, and have lapses where he's bad.
That's what you get with most/all frosh.
MU is starving for help at PG (no PG can play 38min. per game), so there is an opportunity for Duane to play if he can earn it.
-
It would be great news. However, until hearing from a credible source or seeing Duane on the floor Saturday, I'm going to be skeptical.
-
Re: Duane Wilson.
I think we were all hoping you were going to say Aaron Rodgers, you know with the Marquette season being over as of last saturday and all
-
It would be great news. However, until hearing from a credible source or seeing Duane on the floor Saturday, I'm going to be skeptical.
I did break the news about McKay transferring because this same guy gave me the info straight from Duane's mouth. You doubted me there too.
But it's not a credible source ::). I must've just made a lucky guess before anybody else had heard he was transferring.
Sorry I point out the fact that Jay Cutler has nearly 20 more career turnovers than touchdowns and that in the NFL that does not equate to success and you can't handle that. I make very few statements about what is going on behind the scenes regarding Marquette basketball. When I do, it's typically not from a source that isn't credible.

I'm not calling you out, I have heard that he isn't completing a full practice yet and probably will not be playing against IUPUI. I guess we will see.

Fair enough. Maybe he's getting giddy and anxious to play and told the person I know out of overexcitement when he's not ready yet. Hopefully he'll be ready to get a few minutes and keep building as he gets comfortable with the speed of the game.

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify, will he play Saturday? Or is he cleared?
-

Someone who talks to him on a daily basis told me, "He'll be back Saturday!" I am assuming that means he is medically cleared and expecting to at least get a few minutes of playing time.
-
It would be great news. However, until hearing from a credible source or seeing Duane on the floor Saturday, I'm going to be skeptical.
Buzz said he's fully cleared to play on his radio show. Is Buzz a credible enough source? I'm 2 for 2 in blind random stabs.

Just a big coincidence that over the last 6 months I've broke some relatively big news regarding Marquette basketball shortly before it was made public. No idea how I do it with no credible sources available to me. I even provided the specifics in PMs to people who asked me about them. I just go into this blackout mode like I'm possessed and start stabbing keys on my keyboard and all of a sudden a message is sent. Crazy.

A little sensitive are we, wades? Sheesh. Forgive me for being skeptical of "news" on Scoop that starts with, "I heard from a guy..." Honestly, I didn't even pay attention to who started the thread nor have I followed your insider info particularly closely. For that, I apologize ::)
By the way, your obsession with Jay Cutler is comical.

If he is 100% I say play him on Saturday. Use the next few cupcakes to get him ready for conference play. Let's hope he's as good as advertised

Guess what--that is also what we are getting from our more seasoned players. Read: Mayo, Thomas, Wilson, Otule, Anderson, etc.]

Not really sensitive. Just think that it's odd that you'd call a source not credible if you didn't even pay attention to who started the thread. If you don't take into account what the source is, then how would you know whether the source is credible or not?

You're under 5'9", correct?

You're under 5'9", correct?
Point being?

I don't understand why people have to bash those who come here with information. Sometimes it is bad (like the mystery commit who is close to Vander...not happening), but many times it is good (as wades points out, he has gotten good info from this guy previously.)
Now wade's thin-skinned reaction to the criticism is another thing entirely...

I don't think anyone bashed wades' info. I simply said that until I hear news from a legit (preferably named) source I'm going to be skeptical. I don't think that's unreasonable nor was it worthy of wades' subsequent rants.
-
Point being?
Short man syndrome.

You're under 5'9", correct?
Incorrect.

Incorrect.
Hmm...5'9" exactly? Or maybe it's something more complex that has made you so ultra sensitive.

Short man syndrome.
What I suspected. Meaning that rather than attack a poster's argument, or the reasoning behind their position, the poster is attacked directly. Besides being a classic argumentative flaw, it's tacky.

You are correct, sir. I was merely taking a stab at explaining the comment, not necessarily supporting it.

I'm skeptical of posts involving "I heard from a guy..." information. I don't really understand what's wrong with that. However, when I said this, wades flew off the handle with THREE separate posts wondering how anyone could ever question him and his airtight sources. Being overly sensitive is not new territory for wades. If you're ever on the NFL North thread, you know what I mean. I was merely trying to figure out why he's so ultra sensitive and decided to use Occam's Razor (thanks, Guns). Sorry if you think that's tacky but it's a logical place to start.

Well, I actually had zero problem with your post. You stated the reasoning behind why you are skeptical of his posts. That makes for a high quality post. No worries. :)
I just have a problem with "you're under 5'9", right?" type posts.

I'm not the one who questions the credibility of the source every time you post something. Then again, you already explained that you didn't even look at who was posting when you questioned the credibility of the source when you questioned it. Which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Questioning a source without looking at the source. Interesting route to take.
Also funny that you cite the NFC North thread as proof of me being ultrasensitive. All I have done is provide the numbers that Cutler and McCown have put up. What you do in response? Instead of providing numbers to prove facts, you just state that anybody who thinks McCown may be better off as the Bears QB is just a "football idiot." Once again, attack the poster rather than the argument. Maybe somebody else is ultrasensitive?

Oh good. Another rant about how you're not oversensitive. ::) Congrats on your insider info but I'm still going to be skeptical of any insider info posted on a message board that isn't from an obvious credible source. So what? Why does that bother you so much?
Actually, that's not what I said on the other thread. My exact comment was: "Jay Cutler is a significantly better and more talented QB than Josh McCown. Anyone arguing otherwise, quite frankly, is a football idiot." Care to disagree with that? Also, that post wasn't in response to anything that you said specifically yet you took it personally. Hmm...
I don't want to hijack this thread any more. Let's all move on.
