Jamal made dribbling an adventure early in his career.   How he played in the NIT game at the AL gave me hope for his sophomore year.   I foresaw a team with 4 versatile forwards.   Maybe Wojo would run three forward sets, switching more effectively with size and versatility, de-emphasizing having a true post in there in certain sets, running some 5 out action.
Anyway....
I thought the way Jamal got buried so Joey and Sam could both play 30 was a tactical error.   It worked for a while, but everybody was worn out down the stretch. I am happy for Mr. Cain.

Sam was a stud who deserved 30 minutes. Wojo promised minutes to Bailey and Joey. Jamal was odd man out.

At least he didn’t break his promises, hey?

Sam was a stud.  Playing 30+ a game on a surgically repaired hip.   Another one who was worn down by the end of the year.

Dave and Stephanie had no problem with Sam or Joey’s minutes at MU. They had a problem with who got the shot attempts.

Jamal had two things that you can’t teach and that separate the greats…athleticism and attitude. Jamal is an incredible human, big fan.

Love this tweet about him.

Jamal Cain is one of the few players to suit up for MU who was harmed in his career aspirations as a result. Glad to see him have success. He was seemingly a great kid and teammate whom the staff never gave a fair shake.

Absolutely agree here!  I could see the way Jamal moved about the floor and his athleticism that stood out.  All screaming “put me in coach”. Me wonders if he didn’t “toe the wojo line” but another part of me thinks it was just another one of the many bad decisions wojo made that led to his dismal showing  almost like he allowed personal chit get in way of making sound basketball decisions

Dave and Stephanie had no problem with Sam or Joey’s minutes at MU. They had a problem with who got the shot attempts.

Sam averaged a whopping 0.6 more FGA per game at UVa than he had his last year at Marquette. Joey averaged 0.1 more FGA per game in his first season at MSU and 1.7 fewer FGA per game in his second season at MSU.

So if daddy and mommy mostly wanted their boys to leave MU so they'd be able to pile up big-time shot attempts ... it wasn't exactly mission accomplished.

I've heard it said that UVA is kind of a good school.

Oh yeah if anyone at MU was anything other than a PT major itd make sense to jump for the academic prestige.

Not all that surprising, but Pat Riley announced at halftime of the Heat game that Dwyane Wade will be getting a statue outside the arena in Miami.

Wade is in Miami now being elected into their Hall of Fame and is supposedly going to be in attendance tomorrow afternoon in Milwaukee.

Congrats to DJ Carton for getting his first regular season NBA opportunity, getting a 10 day contract with the Toronto Raptors:

I think Carton would have fit Shaka's system well. But he definitely would have been gone after 1 year, he almost surely wouldn't have helped the 2022 team have a long NCAAT run, and his presence might have slowed Kolek's development ... so no real loss from an MU perspective.

I wish him well.

I loved the fake-handoff-drive-baseline-for-dunk play. Pulled it off numerous times, and it was exciting every time. He also was capable of ugly turnovers and bricked 3s, but I think he'd have been a good all-around college player under better coaching.

You're not casting asparagus at Wojo, are you? (or maybe it is a different word, but asparagus sounds right to me).
