Well, yeah.  Because DePaul, Georgetown, Minnesota, and Notre Dame all play home games, too.

What do MN or ND have to do with the discussion of the Big East?
Thanks for ruining summer, Canada.

Mea culpa.  I assumed you meant across the NCAA.

Let’s not forget that Clingan didn’t play the final 16 minutes after getting hurt.  I’m glad they lost, but there’s no comparison between this and our crapfest last nite.
UConn was well behind even with the Klingon.

MU was missing a starter.   Muggsy said 60-40 MU.   I say 85-15 Providence.   Always the aggressor.

Yours is a vain hope, VBMG.

MU was missing a starter that couldn't beat you in a game of HORSE

Way to know your role.

How many posters so far have excused UConn and continued to blame MU?   Thank you all for making my point for me so eloquently.

It was a 5 point game at the half.

Of course there's a comparison. UConn was losing when Clingan went down, and they're the mighty defending champs with superstars and depth up and down the roster that MU can only dream of. Plus, Marquette was down a starter all game.

Hopefully the UConn 15 point loss gives some of our crazier fans some perspective.

Yes, there are a number of valid concerns for Marquette but some of the takes the last 24 hours have been wild.

and Marquette blew their chance to get a one game lead on UConn,  even more mad now...

Nah, that can't be it.   Conference road games are a beeyotch for other teams.  When MU loses, it is 100% due to MU's inadequacies.

I'd much rather lose to Providence than Seton Hall.

I know this probably makes Marquette fans feel better, but it shouldn’t.

It’s ok to feel upset after last night, just like it was ok to feel upset after the UW game.

That was one of the worst performances of the Shaka era. Let’s just hope the response it as good as it was after UW and that it doesn’t occur again in as close a period of time.

It was more about what Providence did than what MU failed to do.

Like it is more about Seton Hall tonight.

It only makes me feel better from the perspective of misery loving company.

But these results are making me think my expectation of 15-5 for MU is too optimistic. MU has some issues I didn’t expect and some of the teams that MU swept last year are going to be tougher this year.

I thought we lost to Providence last night because we got screwed by the referees ( who  have a long history of screwing MU on the road because they don't like us).

We lost by 15 because the refs. We lost because of crappy play. But it's true at least last year we were screwed out of @PC because of refs (49-19 disparity is insane by any measure)

Once again, I underestimated the effectiveness of teal.

John Fanta @John_Fanta 21hrs ago
Providence is 40-3 over the last three seasons at home.
The 40 home wins are the most in all of college basketball in that span.

John Fanta @John_Fanta 6:28pm
The 1-0 teams in the Big East:
Providence
St. John’s
Seton Hall
Butler

The 0-1 teams:
UConn
Marquette
Xavier
Georgetown

it's going to be a long season...for all teams.  those who can persevere, adjust, overcome injuries and the like will be the successful ones.  unfortunately, we are a little "thin" but shaka knew this going in.  i'm sure he's prepared the troops for these exact situations.  when we get stevie back, who's next?

to be 100% healthy and firing on all cylinders is obviously ideal.  real coaches win when this is not the case.  winning players step up to fill the voids.  we are going to need one of the unsung 3 or 4 coming off the bench to "surprise" us

i believe shaka can do this.  the team concept he employs doesn't have "quit" in it.  he is the type of coach we need for these situations.

we will see who the real men are and i just don't mean the players.  i mean some of the so called "fans" here on the board.  ya'll know who you are.  it's fair to criticize.  there is a difference between criticism and being dumb fair weather fans.  there are some on here i've never seen before...or only when something not so good occurs

gotta be able to brush your teeth and walk at the same time

Do the “crazier fans” include the ones who predicted MU to lose 2 or fewer games in the Big East and pull out the COLE label on anyone who expects them to lose more than that?

UConn’s home court in New Jersey?

Stupid info from Fanta. Providence has only had 2 neutral site MTE games each of the past 3 seasons (2-4 btw, no wins Vs a top 80 KenPom opp) — that is, they play a sh1t ton of home games compared to most.

The final sentence is like talking about how you win 20 games this year and comparing it to a century ago when you only had 12 games all year.

Isn't Providence now 20-0  when Fanta is there?
