Xavier over Uconn for the last 3 seed is pretty head scratching. Looks like they didn't penalize any losses due to Freemantels injury.

MU got #8 overall, last #2

Is this true?  Wouldn't we be lined up with #1 overall Alabama if that was the case?

UConn gets to play in Albany, though.  Their potential 5-seed is St. Mary’s who has to travel across the country

They showed the overall seed of each top 4 seed. MU was 8, Purdue 4. The total of the top 4 in the East was 37. The second highest of any region was like 33.

I like our potential first 2 round matchups. I need the Joey Hauser game with MSU round 2 for the drama. Purdue is still scary though

None of Vermont, USC, MSU are great rebounding teams. KSU is the weakest 3, IMO. Couldn’t have asked for much better.

The East looks like the weakest region to me at first blush.

KSU PG is really, really good.  Stevie will have his hands full.

The upper quadrant mid majors are pretty good IMO. Oral Roberts and FAU are 2 of the best mid majors in the tournament IMO. Glad they aren’t in our quadrant.

We have gotten so much better since the game with Purdue, while they have at best treaded water.  But lots of games before that.

Like others have said, in general love the draw.

However, Columbus will be B10 country with Purdue and MSU fans.
That potential second game against Sparty could have a road feel to it and I don’t love that.
Similar reason why I didn’t want UK as the opponent there.

Either way, it might give Marquette that “underdog road feel” so that’s good

MSU has 2 decent big rebounders in Cissoko and Hauser. USC has 7’1 5 star freshman center Vince Iwuchukwu who’s coming along after sitting part of the season recovering from a cardiac issue. Both teams could give us trouble if we aren’t focused on boxing out like when we played St John’s a few days ago

Sparty can go beserk from deep, too, but they’re also prone to a lot of really dumb basketball that Marquette feasts on

Oh yeah, if MU meets up with MSU in the 2nd round, this is essentially a home game for the Spartans. They got a great site for a 7 seed. It will be 80-20 MSU fans for that game.

It doesn’t work that way because of the attempt to place teams geographically if possible and to avoid conference matchups in early rounds.

Purdue fans will have tickets to the MSU vs. MU game if both teams win. Will they cheer for MU or MSU?

Based on the Purdue fans I know, they have loved MU since we played them earlier this year. It'll be hard for them to cheer for MSU.

They’ll be long gone after losing in the first game to Memphis or FAU.
