Through 'ville's win over ND.

So much for home court advantage.

It is still early but that is amazing.  I seem to recall seeing a statistic that since 1980 the home team in division one wins 68% of the time.  Has to be the largest advantage in all of teams sports in the U.S.

In the 29 BE games....The higher ranked team, as determined by the preseason coaches poll, have amassed a record of 25-4.  It will be interesting to see how this plays out throughout the season when more of the top tier teams face each other.

Here are the upsets by the way:
MU (picked 6th) over Nova (picked 5th)
Gtown (picked 7th) over Uconn (picked 1st)
SJU (picked 14th) over ND (picked 4th)
USF (picked 16th over DePaul (picked 15th)

Assuming that statistic includes out-of-conference games, it's probably more a factor of big time programs scheduling a number of home games vs. cupcakes than it is about true home-court advantage.

Here are some more numbers.

Home Team as a Favorite    13-6 straight up
Home Team as a Underdog    3-7 straight up

So the favorite team has won 20 of 29 games straight up. Actually that record is about average. The BE has a big disparity in talent between the best teams and the bottom feeders. The top 8 teams have an overall conference record of 25-6 while the bottom half have gone 4-23. So, even at home the worst teams have a poor chance at an upset against the better squads. By comparison, in the 2007 season the best 8 teams went 97-47.
