A rivalry doesn't stay alive if a team leaves. Carolina will not leave ACC to lose all its power to Indiana! Won't happen.

You seem to not really have much idea why conference realignments are happening.  It is about money, money, and most of all, money.

Who says Indiana has "all the power" in the Big Ten?  All the power in a mixed conference (football and basketball) is with the powerful football schools.  Look at the Old Big East for case in point.

Realignments of all non major schools. There will be no Indianas, Carolina's, Dukes, Kentuckys, UCLAs, or Kansas going anywhere. If we knew half of the shady actions these schools get away with because of their power and prestige within their conference, our head would explode. No amount of money is worth that lose.

UNC and Duke are a team. You can't have one without the other. The ACC will live as long as they have the best rivalry in college basketball.

Foolish logic.  Football controls this.  Not basketball.

Duke and UNC could easily schedule a Non Con every year to keep the rivalry going.

Texas A&M and Nebraska are certainly major schools and both of them moved.

I'd add Mizzou and Maryland to that list as well

Correct ... Michigan and The Ohio State University run the B1G.  Indiana sits in row two at all the meetings run by these two schools.  Indiana does not have to vote because they are expected to agree with whatever Michigan and The Ohio State decide is in the best interest for the conference.  They vote only to make it look good.

This is how the power structure works.

Sorry, forgot about Ohio State. These schools I've named, they don't come to you, you come to them.

You are correct, sir. Despite antipathy between the alumni these two departments act in concert for their mutual benefit. When Michigan or Ohio sneeze Indiana catches pneumonia.

Depends on the program.

IU's business school is ranked behind Michigan, but ahead of Ohio State
IU's journalism school ranked ahead of both
IU's law school ranked ahead of OSU and behind Michigan

Just a few examples...we'll try not to catch pneumonia, or even a cold.   ::)

My comment had nothing to do with academics. It was 100% about athletics. If it were about academics I would put Northwestern well ahead of Ohio.

Indeed.  Followed somewhat closely by Michigan.  Then, in a FAR distant third is everybody else.

Wisconsin actually has a larger athletic department than Michigan in terms of budget.  Penn State is just a hair behind Michigan.

Does IU have as much weight as UM, OSU, UW or PSU?  Nope.  No disputing that.  Neither does Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue and Illinois.

You mean other than the University of Wisconsin, of course. You know, the Harvard of the Midwest and all.
