Recap: Georgetown

Player of the game: Who else but David Cubillan, who became the first player other than Lazar Hayward or Jimmy Butler to lead the Marquette Golden Eagles in scoring in a game this season?

The senior guard knocked down all six of his three-pointers en route to a season-high 18 points, while also playing some stellar defense on Georgetown's Chris Wright, who entered the game averaging 24.3 points over his previous three games.

Cubillan was 4 for 4 from deep in the first half, and three of those accounted for the Golden Eagles' final three field goals in the opening 20 minutes as they took a 32-30 lead into halftime. He finished 6 for 7 from the field overall, with his lone miss being a layup attempt that was swatted away at the basket.

"The No. 12 Hoyas are the highest-ranked team the Golden Eagles have beaten since they dropped No. 12 Pittsburgh, 75-71, on March 3, 2007"

Well, that kind of puts it in perspective. Hard to believe the amigos didn't do better (not that the did bad) in their Junior & Senior seasons, but it's true the best ranked team we beat last year was #15 Villanova, and the previous year was #14 ND.

Well on Saturday let's make it the highest rank team we've beaten since 2/4/06 (ironically the same team) ;)
