Dilemna For World Series

Midnight Madness this year is October 25th. 

Game three of the World Series is October 25th.  Seeing as the American League has home field advantage it would be the first game at Wrigley if the Cubs are in it or the first game at Miller Park if the Brewers are in it, etc.

Which do you choose?

If it was still at midnight it wouldn't be a problem!

Since it would be a tough ticket, I was picturing either choosing between going to Midnight Madness or standing on Waveland and Sheffield at Wrigley. 

I didn't consider Miller Park.  I guess tailgateing in the parking lot would be similar.

I changed the poll to reflect this and reset the 2 votes in the poll if you guys would like to vote again.

My fourth year here...never been able to go to Marquette Madness because the Navy Ball is ALWAYS the same night...but not this year!

Plus I can't say I'm a big baseball fan.  So it's simple

Pardon my ignornace (I'm a White Sox fan after all), but I never understood the people standing outside on Waveland/Sheffield for playoff games. You're just staying at a wall, there's not even a tv out there. I can understand tailgating. But at Wrigley you're just literally watching paint dry on a wall. Why not just go to Murphy's or the Cubby Bear?

If it was the Brewers in the series or if I was a Cubs fan, I wouldn't miss a minute of it for Midnight Madness.  Then again, I'm usually 50/50 on staying at Midnight Madness or getting the free shirt and leaving right away, and between the hypothetical choice of a regular season baseball game and Midnight Madness I'd probably watch baseball.

agreed since if that would happen, the Brewers would put the same restriction they do on tailgating the opening series of the season, it isn't allowed unless you have tickets to the game.

WRIGLEY BAR OWNERS AGREE TO CUTOFF

September 29, 2008 - Chicago Tribune

After meeting with city officials, a group of bar owners near Wrigley Field
said today they have agreed to voluntarily cut off alcohol sales after the
7th inning of some Chicago Cubs playoff games.

The voluntary cutoff would only apply to games that could clinch a series.

And, bars participating in the cutoff would be able to resume alcohol sales
after the 9th inning if a "clinch" game goes to extra innings.

Office of Emergency Management and Communications chief Raymond Orozco, who
attended today's meeting, said the city would hold a news conference
Tuesday. He declined to take questions from reporters or even confirm the
agreement with some bar owners.

Billy Lawless, owner of the Irish Oak, 3511 N. Clark St. , emerged from the
meeting with city officials and said of the pact: "I'm not happy with it."

"We are well capable of handling our own business," he said. "You say it's
voluntarily, but, c'mon, it's a directive from the city."

It was not immediately clear if the deal reached with some Wrigleyville bar
owners would be agreed to by their counterparts near U.S. Cellular Field,
home of the Chicago White Sox.

City officials are seeking to limit alcohol sales near both ballparks.

The Cubs begin a five-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers on
Wednesday, while the Sox are fighting for a post-season berth.

Completly pointless.  Noone is going to sober up in one hour.  If anything they will just order extra pitchers before the 7th inning.

Sox were in the ALCS during Madness '05. I had the perfect solution, though, as notkirkcameron lived across from the Al at the time. I just shuttled back and forth between the Al and his place to keep up with both.

For those that don't have a friend across the street, replace "apartment" with "Hegarty's", and I think you have a solution...

100% right.

If anything, this will just add to the problems. Instead of people staying at the bar for the celebration, by having them go dry, it will just led more people to head out on to the streets.

Also, the radius of the "dry zone" is a complete joke as well. There are many bars in the Wrigleyville/Lakeview area that fall just outside the zone, but are still very close to Wrigley Field (3-4 blocks). All this will do is led to more commotion in the neighborhood as people make their way to the open bars.
