Torn ACL in practice and is DONE for the year.
-
Sucks to be Tim Abromaitis.
-
I hate ND, but not that much to say good. They will really be bad without him and his 20 ppg. Shame.
-
Wow. Well that completely changes my predictions for ND this year. Doubt they'll make the tournament without Abro.

Not sure they were going with him. Awfully untested crew with Abro. Much more desperate situation without him now.
We experienced this just a few years ago. It's a shame.

Are you talking about Cadougan?

Are you talking about Cadougan?
And Otule, Mbakwe, DJ, Deiner, etc. We feel their pain.
-
Wow. Feel bad for the kid.

Oh, darn. ND will suck again. Back in the '82 - '83 season, we were at ND. Had a monster game going into half time. Mikey O'Neil, the team equipment mgr stopped up in the stands to tell us Hank had said to the team to stick it to them. Arrrrrrrh!
By the way, did I mention ND sucks?
-
Hate to see injuries and I feel sorry for the young man, but can't but think perhaps karma played a role considering the "misunderstanding" that ND had regarding his redshirt season.
-
ND still sucks :)

Can you explain?

Can you explain?
In his second season at ND, Brey played Abro in both exhibition games and then redshirted him. Halfway through the season, Brey discovered that you can only pull that move with freshmen. ND self reported it at the time. Abro plays in no games that year, plays his 3rd season as a soph, 4th season (last year) as a junior.
This past summer, the NCAA announced that Abro was suspended for the first four games of this season for violating the redshirt rule his 2nd year at ND. The way it was explained to me was that the NCAA waited to see if Abro was going to actually play this year before doing anything about it. Their solution to his decision to come back for a 5th season that, based on the rules, he didn't have was to suspend him for 4 games.
Now he has blown out his knee and can't play at all.
Unbelieveably, Brey has already started yammering about applying for a medical redshirt for Abro. (http://eye-on-college-basketball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/26283066/33500939)

Abro does not deserve a redshirt, how long can they keep this kid in school?
You know, a lot of people go to college for seven years.

He and ND have stated he is considering applying for a Medical Waiver.

Yeah - they're called doctors

The NCAA's response to this should be a 5 minute YouTube video of Mark Emmert laughing.
-
I am glad Abro got hurt. Yes, it sucks for the kid and I dont wish him ill will.
But I am sorry when you sign with Notre Dame I can no longer root for you. I would not be upset if a few more of their starters got hurt too and we can beat them by 50-60 points. I will be in SB for the game and hope we freaking destroy our enemy.
BTW, I wish bad things for Bucky too. ;D

I'm sorry - but I don't get that. I hate ND as much as the next guy, but come on.
This type of injury is exactly of the type and timing that the hardship rule is designed to cover.
Now, whether he should get a sixth year in which to compete is a different matter and different inquiry, but let's avoid adding insult to injury.
-
I didn't think ND would be very good this year with Abro, then when I saw them play Mizzou and Georgia I really thought they would suck.....now without Abro? Boy, we better beat them this year. Nice thing is we play them on the road. We need all the road wins we can get because I know we will play well at home.

Why? Because of the prior ruling on the Redshirt? They already decided that one. This injury is exactly what a Medical Waiver is for.
-
I bet CBS wishes they could re-select that Saturday national tv game now.
-
Hate to see a kid get injured from any team, even ND. I wish him well in his recovery. Always tough for the kids.
-

Yes because of the prior ruling. He was suspended 4 games for violating the redshirt rules. I can't possibly see how the NCAA can do that and issue him an injury waiver for another season.
-
Shouldn't your laughter have been directed at the last ruling? Frankly, I don't understand the logic. This is a completely different situation. The NCAA did not have to grant a Redshirt previously, at all. They did. They acted on that decision. This is different. I don't see the NCAA laughing. If presented, I can't see how they could not grant it.
